Default Reporting to ODFW

Has anybody reported their harvest report for their Bear and Spring Turkey for ODFW..If I read it right in the book they say that you need to report this information within a month of the hunt or you may not be able to purchase a tag for that species to hunt the next year or you will have to pay a fee..Is this true??????

From what I understand there is no penalty for not reporting nor is there any incentive other than wanting the powers that be to have best available info. I don't understand the warm fuzzy approach myself. It seems like it should be that you can't buy another tag if you don't comply IMO. At the very least throw everybody in a pot that complied and raffle off a statewide buck tag! Somebody oughta suggest that....

The bear system wouldn't allow me to enter the unit I killed my bear in so I emailed Salem and the corrections were made. At that point it is very easy and self explanitory. The only ????? I see is the mentored youth stuff. I am very aware of the program but I would bet that many people who took a kid hunting will consider that mentoring which it in fact is just not the definition they are looking for. No big deal, just an area that could be a bit confusing....

Correct - "No Penalty/No Reward" this year and probably not next year either. They're considering options for the future though.

Good point about the mentored youth questions - I thought the same thing. I also wished that it had a place to review your input before sending it off to Salem. I did make a small mistake on one of my hunt reports and had to email Salem with the correct information.
