Found cooler w/fish
At about 1100 on 7/29 we were headed back into the Columbia from slaying the Coho around the CR bouy when we came up on a big white cooler floating along. It was about 2 miles out from the end of the jetties. As we pulled it in the lid flopped open and dumped a few fish out before were were able to slap the lid closed. It still had 4 coho in it, some beer, pop, a bottle of ketchup and some other misc. stuff. The cooler said in big black bold letters "The Caretaker, Toledo Wa). We tried hailing the Caretaker on VHF 16 with no luck. So then we called the coast guard to see what they wanted us to do with it. We did not want to get a ticket for to many fish. Can you see it? Sure you found these fish floating around, with beer to..... The coast guard was very nice and said to turn them in to the fish and game and to have them call if they had any questions. We were running late and had launched from Hammond. So we turned the whole thing into the fish and game people at Hammond. They said they would try to find the owners. So if you know who this is, give them a call and have them check with ODF. Just a side note, the bungies were still attached around the cooler but the hooks were straightened out.
