Default Fishing in Coos Bay?

We are going to be at Coos Bay at the end of June and was wondering if it was worth taking the 16' boat. If so, where do you go to fish and crab? Thanks for the info.

There is both crab and good fishing inside at Chareston.

Last weekend we put 8 pots out in between the two green cans going out the mouth and picked up 14 keepers on the way back from fishin.

Would certainly bring the boat. Could be good crabbing either inside the bay or outside depending on weather. Several people routinely fish for rockfish inside the bay along the jetty areas. A lot of boats of the 16' size will be found out over the bar on good ocean days. Good rockfishing is available outside the bar near the entrance.

Best place I have ever crabbed in Charleston is straight across the bay from the boat harbor, just upriver from the start of the jetty on the far side. Look for about 17ft of water. Chicken for bait. Walmart in Coos Bay sells a 10 lb bag of hindquarters for $4. Last 4 years, 30-40 keepers in less than 3 hours. We usually go later in the year while the salmon are in though. Good luck!
