cool tuna jigs available at Depoe Bay

Hi Guys,

I'm a newbee here, so if I'm screwing up with this
post, please let me know. I'm not selling anything
... just want to post an FYI.

There is an old guy that stops at Dockside Charters
in Depoe Bay on a fairly regular basis that drives
an older, white Ford Ranger (I think) that sells
some *killer* tuna jigs. I bought a couple from him
last year and put one down last Friday. It out-
caught all my other jigs for the day.

The jigs have a sparklie kind of mylar thread, but
the material is stronger and thinner than mylar.
They have grey/silver heads with yellow/black/red
eyes. These jigs are hand made and very strong.
The heads and wrapings are epoxied for a finish.

The old guy sells a lot of them to the charter boats
there in the bay so I thought I'd give a couple a
try. I liked them so much I bought 6 more!

The jigs are kind of expensive ... 8 bucks a pop!!
But they do seem to take a large number of fish.

You are talking about a fellow named Mel Berry. He is a cool old guy who is young at heart. Loves to fish & talk about fish. He used to own & run a little 6 pack charter boat called the Sally Jo, named after his wife Sally. He's been making & selling various lures for years. Uses good materials like "Fish Hair" & "Krystal Flash." Watch out, he's a good salesman.

Rodger that!! He is a *very* good salesman, but
his lures speak for themselves (IMHO). And you are
correct, his name *is* Mel. I'd forgotten. Thanks
for that!
