Default first time intro ...

Hi guys, Just a quick message to let you all know
that I've been lurking here for awhile but that
now I'm a member!!

I've been reading with interest about the tuna out
of Depoe Bay. I'm sooo excited. My boy and I took
Pacific Mistress out on Friday and got a few (too
few for *my* tastes) and I'll try again on this
Friday if the weather is even half way decent.

Hi Marty!! You're the Sea Sport half way down dock
three, right?? I'm the Aluminum Cat at the end.
You guys are always welcome to stop and have a Coors
Light with me if I'm in port!

Sea ya,

You want to hear some fish stories?? I've got a
few around here someplace.

Nothing more recent than last Friday. The boy (my
son, Dylan who is 18) and I ran out for tuna outa
Dopey Bay. Left the dock at 4:15 and saw "sleeper"
boats at 17 miles. Dropped gear and fished all the
way out to 43 miles. Two albies for 5 hours of
fishing!

At 43 miles we found the commercial tuna fleet, but
they were fishing small fish. We picked up a few.
We trolled back in to 34 miles and got into a patch
of the bigger cold water fish. Ended up with 24
fish for the day and a 15 lb. average.

I basicly over-ran the fish in the morning. If I
had stayed in closer to shore (18-25 miles) I would
have done better. Oh well, thems the breaks! It's
a lot easier to keep track of where the fish are
when you're down multiple days in a row.

Good luck to everybody that gets out on them critters
this week!! I'll be there again on Friday.

This was a nice fishing report.
BUT we want to hear about the one that got away!

Assassin with a 30 foot boat you must be able to go out when most of the smaller boat won't go.

Hopefully we'll see you out on the big blue.

Uh, yep!! Although I'm getting to the age now
where I don't like getting beat up anymore, so I
pick and choose my days. If'n I'd been hungry
enough I could have gone out last Saturday, but the
thing with those 25-30 knott winds kept me in port.
It was kind of fun to sit on the back deck and
watch the "kicker" boats all launching from the
ramp! With that much wind howling through the bay
a lot of folks were having problems handling the
lighter trailer boats. Heck, with that much wind
*I* have problems handling my 6.5 tons at slow
speeds!!

I'll be at Depoe Bay today (thursday) at about 3:30
hoping to make a trip out in the morning. If any
of you happen to be in port, stop and say "hi"!

-assAssin-

Remember my son, a 30 foot boat is still a *small*
boat out on the mighty Pacific!
