Default Anyone thinking tuna this week?

Looks like the ocean will lay down again towards the end of the week. Anyone interested in a tuna trip Wed, Thurs, or Friday? Wak, Pilar, Seasquid leading the way?

Can I get and AMEN from the congregation?!!

Lepper, I've got a 21ft. Bayliner Trophy. It's a pretty small boat but she handles some pretty rough ocean without building my blood pressure up too high. Nice deep V . I've only taken water over the bow a couple times and those were some really nasty conditions so I feel pretty safe. Love that self bailing deck!

I'm thinking about Thursday for tuna but if the ocean really looks nice on Wednesday I may have trouble staying home.

Can everyone post which port they'll be fishing out of ??

I know the Louie-Louie is interested to go this friday/saturday, fair weather and a buddy boat would be mandatory.

Louie-Louie would depart from Nehalam. Tillamook is close enough to sync up with a buddy boat going out.

Hey Lepper, I fish my 19' Bayliner Jamaica on the best days. Yeah, I know, crazy, etc .. etc. Let's just say that the conditiond that keep a 25' boat home and those that keep mine home are not that different.

I have to go back to the Rez at White Swan this week. I might be able to get away early if the job goes well. Saturday for sure, Thursday if I am very lucky.

Depoe Bay or Newport. CR is out, too much timing required for the bar. This is true of Garibaldi to a lesser degree. Also the continental shelf drops off quicker on the North coast than south by Newport. I think this affects bait abundance and tuna abundance.

Arrggghhh, the forecast is changing and it looks like Tuesday will be the sweet spot. Thursday's not out yet but 35 miles is a long way to go to find out you shouldn't have left!

W, W, go a way..........don't come back another day! (at least that's the version I sing)

I think the song is working the forecast has gotten better since my last post!

CraigC, I'll be going out of Newport or Depoe Bay for the same reasons Pilar mentioned. Too much timing required at CR and Barview although Barview is a little more forgiving.

Sturgn, Are you still thinking about Tues. or Wednesday? I've got my father-in-law coming into town tomorrow so I'll have to see what he wants to do but if you're going before Thurs. let me know. I can always tell my wife it was Tuna fever that forced me to tie her father to the bow rail of my boat and abandon the rest of the family for 3 days!

Rick,

If my brother doesn't take his boat up to the San Juan Islands, Thursday might work. I'll be in touch.

Thanks, Rich

looks like a depot bay departure would be the closest looking at the current sst. 270-280 Deg from port to 15 miles then troll out from there.
