Only one hit this morning from Louie-Louie
For those following the salmon action... Lou Shinen just called in and said they don't have any fish in the boat this morning yet.... I think he's somewhere between Nehalem and Twin Rocks... there's plenty of other boats out there now and the water is like glass... so I expect there's little wind around this morning.... They've only gotten one hit this morning... and it cut the line right above the bait holder.. using my soft Newport herring as bait... I'd expect he's also using a downrigger to get his bait down to at least 40 feet. He's says he hasn't seen any flocks of birds on the water either, but his two granddaughters are having a fun time driving the boat..
I'm still working on our story from this Wednesday... I've gotten 3 pages done, and will still be working on it, until I need cut some apple wood down this morning for smoking our salmon this afternoon... cheers,
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Lou says the water is 63F where he's fishing... Does this mean there may be tuna out here in deeper waters just west of us ?? maybe 20 miles or so ??? I'd like to get some opinions on this because I sure would like to go out of Nehalem bay. thanks.
