Re: Tuna 7-18
it's not that big a deal; they were catching 2 or 3 at a time.
It was pitiful, we would be running close, in the same direction and all of a sudden they got a double, again!
Real'em in, drop them back in, and wak another one.
I just had to start lookin the other way.
Way to go guys

Ain't it a beach to have to STOP FISHING cause there's no more room for fish?

Re: Tuna 7-18
Now that's a good trip. Today (7/18) I fished from the Irish out of Newport. We traveled 280 to 310 and 50 miles out. Other commercials were working this same area. We didn't fair so well, managed 43 fishing 2 hand lines and 6 sport rods. We were into 60 degree water at 18 to 20 miles out but we never slowed down.
RJ, did you see any surface action? We didn't see any action on top.

Re: Tuna 7-18
My old man went after them yesterday from Charleston and boated 35 at 31 miles out. They spent most of the day only picking up a few here and there until the way back. They ran into the fish at 29 miles and proceeded to hammer them.

Re: Tuna 7-18
Wak/Seasquid,
Thanks for the help out there, we had a great time and didn't do too bad for our first time out. We only boated 13 but had a lot get off/break off. We're going to do a lot better next time now that we've got a little better feel for it.
Let's do it again soon. With all the fish you guys caught you may as well have a commercial license!

Moby,
That's what's so damn fun about Tuna fishing!
When you get in them it's absolute chaos! Especially when you've only got two guys on board and 5 lines out!

How about another tuna patrol. Wak, lead the way since you have the most recent knowledge.
You are an animal, or you got someone at home carking the fish.

DECK HAND NEEDS BOAT:
If you need help(or any other boat Captain needs help rolleyes: (Especially when you've only got two guys on board and 5 lines out!) Just say so and I'm all over helping out. If jsail isn’t cutting it. I would be willing to send him on a mock job bid for the day. He has passed all of his tuna secrets on to me! Have VISA will fish. You need ice, (visa) you need gas, (visa) you need references ask jsail I've known him for 45 years.
Jsail shared some of his catch with the family: and I grilled some up . The kid's said, Dad why don't you go catch some Tuna?
All I need is a seat and I'm all over it!
John don't want to short cut you, But you never should have shared all of your skill's with your brother. Just kidding Thanks for the tuna! Now all I just need a ride.

Re: Tuna 7-18
Small fry....how about NEED Boat (VISA)! I'll help you find a perfect boat for long range tuna, you bring the Visa and I'll help with the support.
Check out my dream boat, hope you have unlimited credit.
Long Range Tuna Boat
Or...if that's a little off your Visa limit, how about this one......
Short Range Tuna Boat
Or, here's the little sister...
Near Coastal Tuna Boat
Now let's see if we can max out your Visa, trust me, this will be fun.

Re: Tuna 7-18
The last canner full is done...at last...and the smoker is about done also..
Sorry I didn't see your post Pilar and I kinda missed catching you before you left.
We just did the 270 degree thing towards tuna town....just like you said...and we were lacking about 10 miles from getting there.
We are ready to roll next time....new GPS, and a new fish finder with temp. read out, so guys I won't keep calling and asking what the temp is now....

Re: Tuna 7-18
Small Fry, no problem. I'll keep you in mind the next time I've got a seat open.
Hookset, my visa wouldn't even pay for the gas on that long range tuna boat! :depressed:
Good luck today fellas!

Re: Tuna 7-18
Hey guys (wak'm and Corrirod) thanks for the company -- I had a couple of tuna rookies on board, so it was a little chaotic for me -- handlines tangled, lost fish at the boat, etc....but they'll be better next time. I think this tuna thing thourghly wore out one of them. Oh, I gave a bigger craft the numbers from Thursday so he ran up there Friday -- zero! This guy also knows how to fish them -- so I was a little surprised.
Fished salmon Friday, and tried for a while Saturday before getting a little beat up -- the heck with this we have enough in the freezer. I did boat a 40-pound chinook off the Lighthouse Friday -- biggest salmon ever in the eight-year life of the boat Seasquid....
Ya'll have fun this week, I'm off to Alaska. No not really to fish much, just a girlfriend. Heck, she may become Seasquid's mate -- don't tell her that though --
I'm in when I can in August for tuna -- work is starting to heat up, so I have to pick my days.
thanks again guys -- see you on the water.
