Talk about working for em' Sat
We left the ramp at about 5:30 saturday morning and hoped for a little bit better run to the ranch than we had. There were a couple of places that the wind was blowing good an had a lot of garbage on top of the 3-4' swell. After our trip out a few weeks back though this was a walk in the park. We got a later start than normal so I figure that once we got there, there would be lots of boats aready fishing. Not the case. The only boat that got there in front of us was a ****** running long lines! Is this leagal in that location? KInd of frustrating. Oh well lets get the gear down. WE fished for quite a while with nothing happening. Then Cork started getting bit. After farming a few, He ended up with a fish he was happy to have brought up from 525'.

Then a little while later Derek caught another one about the same size. WE fished a little longer then got a rod hung up somthing terrible. As we tried to free the line, Timmy hung a dandy. I tell him he caught it trolling as we were in reverse hard trying to free the stuck line. "troll caught hali" Truth is I wish it would have been on my line in stead of the Granite Grouper. He fought it for a while then his eyes about popped out of his head once he saw it! #64 Nice fish buddy!
We managed a limit by about noon then headed back. All in all it was a good day on the water. WE went through some gear and had a couple rods fall to the fish gods (none of the instences on fish) but its just an excuse to by new .
Thanks guys for a great trip! Nothing like fishin with a good crew!

Re: Talk about working for em' Sat
Nice work! Guy's. Yeah! slow going for most at the Ranch Sat, the drift was too fast without backing down, & we had to go in & out of reverse to get the right speed, we worked hard for our 4 fish also, & we had a Broken wrist on board also, came down on the back side of a steep swell about 10 miles out, & Tom braced for a hard landing, & Broke his left Wrist holding on to the passenger seat grab bar...Ouch! we didn't know it was broke at the time, he was in obvious pain, but he wanted to continue, the pain subsided, but he was unable to fish, I found out this morning is was fractured, gonna find out tomorrow if my insurance will cover lost wages, as he is out of commission for several weeks, tough & expensive day on the Ocean for sure.

Re: Talk about working for em' Sat (Pics)
Thanks guys!
Ken, thats horrible! Hope your buddy is alright! WE had to back down as well. Its kind of nice in my CC cause I can still fish while shifting in and out of gear. Makes for a tired right arm, but you can get it done. There were a few boats that would stop by us, then drift right past. You said it, fast current!
Chris, we started out with everyone set up a little different. I had a white 10" glow squid with a strip of shad and a strobe light in the head of the squid. Derrick had a plastic green squid with a strip of shad, Tim had a plastic striped squid with a strip of shad and cork had just a long thick hunk of shad. I filleted the shad the night before and salted them down and added Smelly Jelly. Once Cork was the only one getting bit, we all switched to just the big hunks of shad.
Anyone use the Gulp squid yesterday? If so, How'd ya do?

Re: Talk about working for em' Sat
I found out that the commercial boats out at the ranch saturday were "slime eeling". Send them over seas was what I was told. They sink barrels of bait and the eels swim inside. Figured I'd pass along the info.

I'd charter a helicoptor to video that.
Brandon. I cut it to get it out and NO parts to be found. I ordered a piece of tubing that I hope is close from an on-line metals type place. [/quote]

Thanks Guys! My buddies were the REAL fishermen! Ill pass the kudos on to them!
Butch I found the solution to your problem! Your motor is the wrong color! Its SILVER! Everyone know you have less problems with BLUE!
Just kidding, kinda. All joking aside, get er fixed we got another set of dates in two weeks! Hope it goes well!
