Just a reminder to all of you that have kids (or even yourselves) that this coming Saturday, June 7th, there is a Free Fishing Day event being held at Thissel Pond, up Fall Creek on the Alsea. This is at/near the Oregon Hatchery Research Center.
While it is not a true "kids only' fishing event (its open to everyone), it is a lot more fun to watch a 5 yr old catch his limit than a 50 yr old
Also, for the little ones who may not compete with the older crowd, there is a special 5yr and under fishing area at the OHRC raceway ponds. Big fish and little kids, great combo!
Shuttle service from OHRC parking area to the pond is provided, rods, bait, tackle provided. LOTS OF FISH FOR EVERYONE... LOTS (trust me, you WILL catch fish
) sizes range from legals to 3-4lbs. Also for viewing pleasure, a pair of bald eagles will most likely be keeping a close eye on the pond
