GRRRRRRRR... Couldn\'t get out..
Called the bar hotline this morning (charleston), said bar restrictions were for 16 ft and under. so I said cool, woke the wife up and we headed out.... Called about 15 min later almost to the water and they raised the restrictions to 20ft and under... I have a 19ft alumaweld.... I should have just gone, but oh well I will live to fish another day..... Just as long as they keep the season open. Next time I can go is next week........ :depressed:

Re: GRRRRRRRR... Couldn\'t get out..
I know people who are catching chinook all the way into the bay to the coast guard lookout. I would definitely try it on an incoming tide especially if you got out of bed for the deal. What tide is it right now??? If it's only restricted to 20 and under after tide change it would definitely open.

low tide is at 10:41 So tide is going out. Maybe I will run up there on the incomeing tide. And this morning wind wasn't bad but already the wind is picking up here.....
what are they using in the river? and are they getting very many? or just a few sparsly spread out?

Re: GRRRRRRRR... Couldn\'t get out..
They are plucking a few consistently at the end of high tide and high slack. My advice would be to either mooch or troll a cut plug herring near the bottom. If you have downriggers use them, if not I would mooch as far up the south jetty as you can and drift in. The wind was whipping pretty good when I flew in yesterday afternoon so today would probably be similar. Either way get as far out as you can and mooch incoming tide and it should give you some action.

Lepper, I may be going out of Garibaldi tomorrow if you and your father would like to join me. You are welcome to come on my boat or follow me out.
Let me know and we'll try to get you some salmon.
