Marlin Adventure
Well I just got back from the old honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta and got a chance from the new lady to go on a Marlin trip to ease the fishing bug. So we headed out on a 37' custom boat and what seemed like forever to get out to the fishing grounds. I learned a lot on how they use their outriggers and V-pattern setups for tuna and marlin. We trolled forever (5 hours) without a bite and then it happened. One reel started screaming and the bait boy screamed for me to get in the fighting chair. I was there in an instant and it was game on. After 5 min. or so of tugging on this monster it wasn't acting like the fish I've seen on the shows. Just a monster log coming in basically. When it got close we could see it just happened to be a monster sea turtle!! The big brute got tangled in one of the lines. So to no avail I still can't chalk a marlin up for tailchaser. It was funny however how fast that same boat could move when we headed in  , funny how that works.
Not until the way back did they admit the best time for these beasts was oct, nov, so I think I was had a little on what we did, but oh well, I didn't have to pay for the trip. AHHH dreaming of tuna now. Anyone hear anything off of charleston this last week???
