can't fish butts this weekend, again!
This is killing me!! My wife has been gone on business 4-1/2 of the last 6 weeks and getting away to fish while taking care of the kid has proven to be a real challenge. She's gone again to LA till sunday night.
I thought I had found coverage so I could fish sat., but that too has fallen through. Anybody want to babysit??? Conditions look great. I hope all you dogs do well.
I think I'll hope for a little tuna/butt combo action in august!
Tight lines,
GBS

Dude - that SUCKS! But, I can tell you from experience that in your lifetime, you will have lots of time to fish butts. You will have limited time to spend with your kids. And as you look back on your time on this earth, the time spent with your kids will be way more important than any time chasing butts. Trust me on this one.

Dean, words well spoken brother . . Being full time parent while she's gone, the time with my son had been awesome. Work, but so worth it!
I do get time in AK fishing with my dad and son in a few weeks. I'd take that over 100 trips off the oregon coast without them.
Catch a few for me this weekend anyway.

Re: can't fish butts this weekend, again!
My son has a baseball game on Saturday 10am to noon. I promised him I would not miss any of his games if I had a choice. I got the idea today to head to the beach at noon after baseball, hopefully launch by 3pm, head to the ranch and try to limit the boat by dark.
I think the all depth season goes to midnight if I had to stay late to get limits and come in when it was dark It would take a special crew to be dedicated enough to fish till midnight if needed.
I think I will stay home and pour some concrete I have formed up
Baseball again next saturday
I think he will be all grown up and gone before I want him to leave. Best to enjoy him while I can.
Feeling your pain GBS

Brad I feel your pain. But the time with your kid is priceless.
I too am landlocked this weekend. My reason is only that I am on call for work. The good news is, my next on call weekend will be in Oct.

Brad,
Your a GREAT Dad - which is way better than being an average halibut fisherman I was lucky enough to get out today. If you can't get out and get the hankerin for a fresh piece of hali, let me know. I'd be more than happy to drop you off a nice fillet or two.
And in the words of my infamous father, a working wife is like a pumping oil well

Re: can't fish butts this weekend, again!
I don't have my own salty vessel, but have had to watch as what seems like an abundance of open seats have come and gone lately!
Stupid work has picked up dramatically, and the worst part is that I've been working in Salty port towns lately. In fact, I'll be off to another salty port for work today, but won't ever get a chance to be on the water.
Oh well, I'll save my fuel money for when the tuna show I guess.

I feel your pain. Thankfully my kids are getting close to the age where they want to go hit big blue. We'll start with inshore rockfish though.
Scott.
