Default Dorena Smallie's

I fished Dorena again this weekend with more luck than last weekend. My buddy told me before i went that there are smallies in there. Well i kinda shrugged it off and went about my biz. Well i caught one. It was a pig. I didnt expect them to be big, if even existing in there. Does anyone know if there is enough of them to actually spend time targeting them? If so what area may be better and what baits? and how big are they on average? I accidently caught that one on a Baby brush hog texas rigged. I also caught a few largemouth, with the biggest being 5.5.

Kill as many of them as you legally can, PLEASE. They have been in there for at least 20 years now, but thanks to a viligant effort by nearly everyone who fished there, they haven't overtaken the largemouth. There are very few in there and hopefully it stays that way!

Well the largie didnt get shot with a camera cause i forgot my camera, phone and digital scale in camp before going out. Luckily we had an old scale in the bottom of a tackle bag so we could weigh it. I will be going out again on sunday to another lake im not going to name right now. Maybe i'll have some pics of those pigs if they cooperate. monday was much better at this different lake than Dorena was all weekend.
