Fished the lake today for a tough bass bite, but excellent crappie action. Just like Roger, we did well on the bass last week, but the bite has really slowed. Spinnerbaits in wood and grass were the only bites for us today. Did get 3 or 4 on the senko, but smaller fish. As for the crappie......the bite has been on for a few weeks now. We pounded them last week and found them again today. Mostly fish under a pound, but a few bigger ones thrown in. Heck, I caught a good size one last week on a 4 inch Zoom Fluke throwing for bass. Anyway, as far as exact spots..........I can't say . It's my buddies spot, and he would kill me. I will say, we have caught them in a number of spots and not just one area. Coves and 6 to 8 feet of water have been the ticket for us. Tried all kinds of crappie jigs and caught fish.....but the killer one has been a little one inch clear paddle tail with a mylar insert in the body for reflection. Fish light. My friend uses 2 lb line, I fish 4 lb. It makes a difference. He catches most of his from shore.............you just have to put your time in and move a lot untill you find them. Lake looks prime for the bass to go off. Hope it's soon!
