Don't feel too bad. I got a call from my Bud in Alaska. He took ten days off surrounding the 4th of July for halibut fishing just north of Homer and only got out one of the ten days.
The ocean is a fickle mistress.

Well we arrived at Illwaco at 8:15 am this morning to find out the Bar was closed to craft under 26 ft. Kinda thought that when I heard the forcast but it is a short pull from long beach so what the hey. When talking to the Lady at the bait shop heard the Coast guard call come as someone had lost a prop on thier boat and had no anchor drifting toward the south Jetty. Also heard of 10 ft breakers on the bar at Ebb and rising. You know it isn't good when the rescue chopper is out. We actually didn't plan on crossing till around 9 am well after the Ebb but decided to bag it for the day anyway. When we arrived back at the beach house heard on the radio that the coast guard had saved the guys and there boat and they were towed back to hammond. . Oh well there will be another Day..
