FRIDAY 12 JULY, ODFW MEETING

Well, it is only 2 days away. Who is going and what is the plan?

I saw live rockfish for sale yesterday at the Asian market at the end of my street. Cabezon, Ling and Black rockfish. $4.25 a pound.

We can't let these guys cark our bottom fishing out of existence. Get off your butts and show some support for regulating the nearshore fishery.

Take some comp time, vacation time or just get sick on a Friday. Come to the meeting and let them know we want the nearshore protected from $4.25 a pound live rockfish.

Can I get an Amen?

The current plan is that we will meet at the DoubleTree - 310 SW Lincoln, Portland - 06:30 on Friday. After we get everyone briefed, we'll head down to the ODFW offices - 2501 SW First Avenue, Portland. Don't bring the boat because the parking is under the building. I'm told the ODFW will validate for parking.

Plan to be there the whole day, just in case, but I heard we might be out of there by noon. I'll post as soon as I have more info.

Protect Oregon’s near shore fishery by implementing a near shore management plan now, before it is too late.

Be there or don't bother *******' when they close down the 30 fathom curve and allow the habitat destroying commercial boats to annihilate our near shore fishery. If you are not an active participant in the solution YOU ARE part of the problem. Don't sit back and watch this happen or stick your head in the sand and think it could never happen. IT WILL .

Here are directions to the Doubletree. They are from Mapquest, so I cannot guarantee they are the greatest, but it usually works.

From the west side:
Take the US-26 E to the MARKET ST. exit.
Stay straight to go onto SW MARKET ST/US-26 E.
Turn RIGHT onto SW BROADWAY.
Turn LEFT onto SW COLLEGE ST
Turn RIGHT onto SW 5TH AVE
Turn LEFT onto SW LINCOLN ST.

From the east side:
Take I-84 W. towards Portland
Take the I-5 S exit on the left towards SALEM.
Merge onto I-5 S.
Take the I-405 exit on the left towards US-26/BEAVERTON/CITY CENTER.
Merge onto I-405 N.
Take the 4TH AVE. exit- exit number 1B.
Turn RIGHT onto SW LINCOLN ST.

From Vancouver or points north:
Take I-5 S towards PORTLAND.
Take the I-405 exit on the left towards US-26/BEAVERTON/CITY CENTER.
Merge onto I-405 N.
Take the 4TH AVE. exit- exit number 1B.
Turn RIGHT onto SW LINCOLN ST.

From Salem or points south:
Take I-5 N.
Take the I-405 exit on the left towards CITY CENTER/US-26 W/BEAVERTON.
Merge onto I-405 N.
Take the 4TH AVE. exit- exit number 1B.
Turn RIGHT onto SW LINCOLN ST.

I'll bring instructions with me on how to get to ODFW from the Doubletree.

I just confirmed we should be done by noon. since we'll be commenting on an agenda item, we won't have to wait until after lunch. :grin:
