Bulk Ice??

After Pilars report on the tuna I'm all kinds of excited to go out and slay some. But first I need to find 100# bags of crushed ice or bulk ice in Newport. Anybody have any good leads??

Hey Drifty, we got a hell of a deal on loose ice on July 4 at the fuel dock in S. Beach Marina. 4 five gallon buckets and 2 blocks of ice for 6 bucks.

Also you can get 20# bags at Albertsons for $2.50.

Do they sell ice like that all the time or was that a one time deal. And you are totally right.............you HAVE to Bleed them and you NEED to ice them well. All the difference in the world. My boat will be moored at Depoe for the next month so I will finally be free of my family obligations and be 'in the hunt'. So if it lays down a bit, I will be out there also. The more the merrier and fishing should just keep getting better and better, although I don't know how much better a trip like yours can get. My filleting muscles are already reacting to the task.

We should have some kind of a BIG TUNA contest. A certain place to weight in and winners gets a years bragging rights. I know Chris at the Newport Store has a good scale. Last year 44 lbs. was the largest that he weighted.

Pray for nice weather and I will join you in the big blue church 30 miles off shore.

In Illawaco we go to the commercial dock and get our 100 Q cooler filled with dump crab ice for free or just a couple of bucks. Anyone know of places like that in Oregon?
