Ocean Coho Report
Coho fishing was good off of Cape Lookout yesterday. I caught 7 by myself in several hours, but 5 were natives that had to go back. Trolled anchovies with a flasher worked best early in the morning, then hoochies (without a chunk of bait) worked fine. The fish were close the surface, and small groups were popping up and herding baitfish. I even caught one one 6# line on a hoochie (no flasher, no sinker) trolled right on the surface. What a blast.........lots of jumps and long runs.
The fish ranged from 4 to 12 pounds, seas were flat, light wind...a perfect day.

Re: Ocean Coho Report
One of my favorite memories from lasts years great season.. was just as I had netted a nice chinook,I look over at one of the rods I had reeled up and just placed in the rod holder, with the leader and hoochie bouncing off of the surface and a big fat hatchery coho cam eup and grabbed it right off the surface.
Lots of fun..

Corrirod-
I was out there too, but we struggled. Lots of nates, only 1 hatchery fish.
What kind of rig do you have for tuna? I would be looking for a running mate out of Garibaldi. Send me your email.

Re: Ocean Coho Report
I heard the bite was a lot better today(Monday), of course we've all heard that before! A buddy of mine limited the boat with 3 people and was back to the dock by 10:00am. 5 coho, 1 Nook.
I have a 20' Bayliner Trophy, downriggers, radar on top, and I had an anchor buoy and blue rope box on the front. Threemuch, what were you piloting?

Re: Ocean Coho Report
Fished out of Garibaldi in front of Twin Rocks yesterday. Great morning bite, lots of "fly-by's", "Dine & Dash's", (a.k.a. takedowns). Lots of natives, landed 4 hatchery coho, and 1 Nook. Got 32 crabs!
Headed out there again tomorrow unless someone needs a second boat to go with them tuna hunting!
