I was wondering the same thing, joe. I'll be retiring this month and Mongold is only 44 miles from the barn. Good option with these gas prices. Do plan on releasing those nasty tastin' nookies.

Joe, this was posted by stymulator a week or two ago.

Had a fantastic afternoon on that lake with Davy yesterday. He found the kokanee west of the big island from the state park. We fished with the downriggers at about 30 feet and used mainly orange Kokanee rigs and small flashers. Yes they are nice fish, our smallest was 14", we got 9 kokanee and 1 chinook about 18". He had his dog, Cherry, with him and everytime we got a fish on she was there to help net it

We didn't do all that well, but the guy camped next to me had one that went 16". It was a nice fish.

Thanks guys! Being fuel cost for our trucks and boats is an issue, it's nice to know there are some nice fish fairly close by!
