Default Who are all these people and what are they talking about?

:lurk:

I just woke up from a nap, took a glance, and I know hardly any of you folks any more!
Who are you?
Let's start here...
Time for another "How did you come up with your moniker" game.
OK... How?
New ifishers, this is kind of fun. How did you come up with your moniker?
Did you have to try more than once to get a good one cuz the other was taken? Just curious!
I want to get to know you guys and gals!
All 2003 of you!
*Edit: I mean all 8000 of you! LOL... My, how we grow!

Can I be first????? Cap'n Dan emailed me once and shortened my email address (maybe misread?) and called me Trick. I thought it was catchy and I stuck with it. Back then most of the good monikers were still available but I bet it's getting tougher now.

This is fun. MORE!
I am Jennie at ifish, because I am Jennie at ifish.
Duh. Creative!
I had another moniker called admin, because I was the admin... I deleted that, or...I don't use it.
Do I have any more? I don't think so.
I should go do a look up of all my e mail addies. I don't think I do.
Maybe I should register SOMETHING creative.

I held the IGFA 6 kg (12lb) World Record for chum salmon from 1987 until 2000.
Caught it in Carol Inlet (South of Ketchikan) 50 feet off shore, 150 yards from my house.
We weighed it, took pictures, and then put it on the grill.

Hi Jennie My "real" name is Matt, but most call me Jeep. I have driven a Jeep for many years....but sadly I am currently jeep-less...Anyone wanna offload their old iron?...On second thought I better not start another project! I grew up throwing buzzbombs of the "old" point definace boathouse (before it burned down), but havent been fishing in years. I've recently been bitten by the fishing bug again BIG TIME!! I've been out plunking a few times already this spring. I had never even seen a sturgeon before moving down here 2 years ago. I have never caught one yet, but am waiting for that day!! (ayone want to take a rookie out for gators Anywho, thats who I am, I found iFish while surfing and have been addicted to it ever since! Hope to meet many of you out on the rivers and lakes! Thanks for all your hard work Jennie!

Cant seem to get the to stay on my hooks?!?

My dad nicknamed me "ridge runner" when I was a kid because I was always the first one to come out of the woods while making a drive during hunting season. So, artwo stands for R squared or R2 for the two r's in the above name. I wanted to use R2 on another site but that site required atleast four letters so I came up with Artwo for ridge runner. Stretching that one I know.........but this is my screen name on any of the sites I visit and I've never seen another so if you see it, it's probably me.

My Father was a music teacher, and avid fisherman for 20+ years in Eastern Washington. In 1974 he had the privlige of hosting Cannonball Adderly, a somewhat famous jazz musican on a steelhead trip on the Snake River. He took a flat bottom wooden boat on the snake, before the dams, through rapids and all. He must have told 10,000 stories about this trip throughout his life.
My wife and I took a trip to the same area of the snake last spring. After dinner the first night I turned on the radio in the camper, the only station we could tune in was playing a tribute to Cannonball Adderly. Figured We better keep the name alive so the new 20 foot NW Jet is named Cannonball.

I didn't figure you'd bother to wash old swampy there !!!" Swampy ?!? I kind of like that !!! Swampy it is !!! It stuck and now I have dear old swampy or little swampy and my Northriver , Big Swampy, or Power Swampy !!!

Hi Jennie,

I picked my moniker from a maxim another ifisher said about our good luck fishing one day when we caught 4 fish each near B10 - "Even a blind squirel finds an acorn once in awhile". This was last year when I was lucky to be invited on a co-worker's ("ThunderJet") boat, with two other ifisher's - "Fishbait"?? and ?? There were 3 ifishers and myself on the trip - and that's when I learned about ifish. I liked the part about the blind squirel and picked it as my moniker. Hopefully, nobody replies to me with my initials...

There has been a long standing joke between my fishing buddies and I. As most of us married guys know you have to check w/ the better half before you can go fishing. (yeah right...) When you get the thumbs up....that's a kitchen pass.  So when they'd call me instead of asking if I wanted to go fishing they'd ask..."Can you get a kitchen pass?"

Well, I have worked with sturgeon for the last 12 years and STG is the abbreviation we used on our data sheets for sturgeon (white sturgeon).
They had no need to evolve after a few thousand years and are perfectly suited to their environment. So Sturgeon Rule.

CB handle from way back. My neighbor, who really got me fishing, gave me the handle when I was 15 on our first trip to Campbell River - two weeks salmon fishing camping on a moored boat in the summer. You guessed it, he drove and I was the map reader.

What a great idea Jennie! I make my living restoring river habitat for salmon and steelhead. Although I enjoy visiting and fishing still water, there is something very magical about rivers. From there "RiverMan" just seemed to fit. Thanks!

I have worked a swing or later shift most of my life. I am not a morning person! So when I get up early to go fishing with friends, I usually manage to sleep on the way there and sleep in the boat. One friend I used to go fishing with out of Newport used to be amazed that I could sleep with the waves splashing me in the face  , and he used to comment on what a deepsleeper I am. So it kind of stuck. I do however wake up instantly if someone whispers "fish on".

Well talons? I grew up working in the ocean on a 22' blue and wihte dory named OSPREY. This is still my dads boat. I wanted to use the moniker osprey but it was already taken. I figured that the next best thing was Fish Hawk, so I named my guide business fish hawk adventures. I figured that there were enough boats out there named Fish Hawk so I thought long and hard about what really catptures the fish for the Ospery and I came up with Talons. So that is the story in a nut shell.

My last name is culbertson. cully was given to me by one of my cleveland high school football coach's, Cully was the last name of an at the time (1968) Norte Dame football player. The first time it rolled out of my coach's mouth it problably went something like this, "cully, I said to throw the deep route, why in the hell did you throw a buttonhook"!

I had to spell mine a little different because bright was already taken. My wife noticed that when I came home from fishing the rivers I always commented on the fish. They were nice fish, a good fish, smoker- but the best were always mintbrite! Now she never forgets to ask that same question (is it mintbright?) even though now she can tell herself.

I retired after 22 yrs as a Dog control Officer and they always called us dogcatchers. Well I also am a serious Bass fisherman and when I had bought a bass boat, a friend said that with all the Hawgs that I would catch, that I should name the boat, Hawgcatcher. Pretty soon it caught on with friends and they would call me that too. Now I want to get into some of those Hawgs that are swimming into the rivers. Springers.

I always said I would mount the first 20# Steelhead I caught. It took me 20+ years and I caught two in two days on a rag. Well, it just stuck, rags.

I think mine is self explanitory, I love to fish. I have had this moniker for about 7 years now and use it on several boards (when its not already taken).

I dedicated some 30 years to directing public school bands, and playing professionally on the side (Symphony, Ice Shows, etc.) Now it's time to fish!!

The name pretty much says what I try to do all the time. There is times I don't but I think it's not too much that I'm not. There are a lot of great monikers out there. Been fun reading them.

I'm not a doctor, nor am I a Spratley. When I was a kid, my father and I used to troll for trout on western Washington lakes in a very small row boat, using Doctor Spratleys, a British Columbia trout fly made famous in the Kamloops Lakes region. Fourty years later, I'm still catching fish with that pattern. I was going to use G.B. Skunk, but it was already taken and my wife (she who must be obeyed) said I'm too young to use Silver Hilton!

Well, my second favorite hobby is drumming. I have been in bands of some type since I was in 6th grade(that's why it's second, I've been fishing since I was 5 =). I couldn't think of any clever monikers that had to do with fishing so, I chose one from playing drums. A rimshot is a technique used in drumming(rock drumming mostly) where you strike the center of the drum and the rim of the drum at exactly the same time. It creates the loud CRACK that is heard in most rock songs.

I;m not a Doc, but I AM a Spratley and I wish I'd taken that moniker!!

Hoochies are what we fish with and it became a natural for a Fishing BB name for me.

Hey, Doc, can we make a switch?

I cut my teeth on trolling sinkers " yes that explains alot" in Pacific city at Cape Kiwanda. My dad and my uncles all had dorys and spent weekends there comercial fishing for salmon and occasionaly took "flatlanders " on discreet charters. I dont know many folks who had a fish box for a toy box. My mom said by the time I was 5 I could identify anything with fins and on more than one occasion embarassed the hell out of some poor rookie fish cop.My mom was the one who came up with name and when I have enough pennies saved up you will see a new dory on the sand by the same name. What a great idea Jennie, ever gone out on a dory?
