Default Coat-it or alternative for painting gunwales

I am refurbishing a 19' Starcraft and want to use a thicker coating or texturing paint on the gunwales since so many holes were plug welded. I'm considering Coat-it or some type of textured paint (Zolotone?) but NOT Gluv-it or the "sand" texture type of paint. I had prior bad luck with Gluv-it on semi-flexible surfaces, it cracked badly. My understanding is that Coat-it performs superior here, can someone confirm? Any recommendations on other types of coating? The requirements are ability to apply by brush, roller or sprayer, not to thick and must be paintable with something like Petit Easypoxy (single part urethane). It doesn't have to have a texture, but if it does I don't want something to rough.

Thanks,
Biederboat

Hammerite may fit your need, and you may not need another coating over it. It is thicker than most paints, but once it gets good and hard, it is extremely durable. Application is pretty straightforward, but temperature affects its viscosity, and when the can says well ventilated area, they mean it.
