Default Gp 5/26

Arrived GP about 0600 to find a very wet misty day ahead on the water. Hardly any boaters this morning early, but they showed up later. Don't know how any other folks fared but my boat managed 14 very hard earned fish. 7 small chinook and 7 kokanee up to 14 1/2". Probably lost an additional 10 or so. There was no "bite" to speak of so the switching of colors of gear was the order for the day. If I had to pick a best color I would go with orange or pink fished at about 35 - 45'. Very few schools of kokanee yet, water temp at surface 55.7 to 57 degrees. Just too cold I think. Lots of chinook available in the 10" range, but tried to target the kokes, and just couldn't get past the chinooks. Finally gave up about 1400 when the wind started up a little. Figured getting wet was enough, and wind was too much so it was MGD time. Will try again on Wednesday.

Thanks C6, I agree it needs to warm up a bit! Those bigger kokes, are fun! I had a couple fold my UL rod right over! Thanks again!

I was there at 5 and did not think anyone was going to fish. Very hard day to find out what the fish wanted. we would catch 3 or 4 fish and it would go dead. we tried everything. changed every 10 min. trying to find something that would catch fish. we tried different scents. I think the fish are there but they are spred out all over zero to 100 feet. we need warmer weather to forse the fish to school. we caught 8 kokanee 12 chinook and 6 rainbows. we had to keep 2 rainbows. They were hooked to bad. the rainbows had red meat. My wife picked on a baby kokanee it was about 5 inches.
good luck Larry

we got there at about 6:45 there was a cold drizzle so we fired up the heater. Headed down to the dam hoping that the cloud cover would burn off. Landed one at about 9 followed by two more then it died. we fished up the north shore? with nothing. Cut across to the south shore around 2PM landed 6 more by 3:30. We tried everything we had, silver kokanee killer and red kokanee killer worked the best with silver being the best of the two. Out of three scented bags of corn, the homemade garlic/anise sented corn was the most effective.

Primarily that area early on but broke for other areas hunting for the fish. They are really spread out. I think a couple weeks of warmer weather will make things much easier. Then they should start schooling some.

C6 I was there the same week and it was hard fishing. Had my best luck on the south shoreline across from the island. Orange WR's dragged behind small silver ford fenders. Anise scented corn as well as the firecorn worked the magic. I agree with the schooling issue just too cold.
