Re: My best fishing trip ever!!!!
Thanks for reporting. That's a fine looking boat and an even better looking brood of kids. Great company and lots of kokes makes for a camping trip that's hard to top.

Sounds like a great trip. You sure you got enough truck to pull that boat?

WTG! Thanks for the report! What great memories you are making for those kids. Looks like a fun boat. Would love to hear some fishing details (water temp, depth to bottom/fish, top lure/bait, attractor, speed).

The water temp was 52 on the first day and 54 or so on the last day. All the fish were caught on spinners. I did use an apex for about 30 min with out a bump so I switched back to a spinner.
My blue double blade was the best producer on Friday with over 30 fish on it, but Saturday it sucked eggs. During the middle of the day my pink double spinner worked great. Also a single blade similar to the red, black, and green double spinner in the pic was hot every day.
Scented corn was the trick. Kokanee Special, Garlic, Wizard (corn magic) worked the best. Carp spit never caught a fish and Anis was a very slow producer.
As for depth I caught fish all over the lake. I always trolled 10ft or so off the bottom. So in 30ft of water I fished 20ft with 30 ft of line out behind my downrigger. In 17ft of water I fished 7ft deep with about 60ft of line out. I never fished over 45ft but we did catch fish at that depth.
The only dodgers we used were nickel and watermelon. I tried a sep’s watermelon sidekick dodger and loved it so I just ordered 9 more in other colors.
My speed varied nonstop. But the best strikes were at 1.0 to 1.2. Also trolling perpendicular to the sun seemed to always produce a fish.
Look at the pic of my spinners, the hooks are size 2 and I now feel the hook spread is to far apart so I have retied all my spinners. I hope this improves my landing ratio for my next trip.
Good Luck, ET

I tried it a couple times with no luck this trip. On other trips it has been the best lure. The times it has worked the best is when I fish it over 50ft.

Re: My best fishing trip ever!!!!
Thanks for the reply! Now I don't want ya to go and retie those spinners again, but tie a few up with fine wire dropshot gami's, I have only lost a handfull of fish this year! I believe they make a smaller hole, which shouldn't get to much bigger when they go nut's, and they penetrate better! I use black one's, cause I can't find any red ones yet, and they work great. Give it a try and see what ya think!

Thanks for the detailed report and sharing tips and pics of your spinners. Looks like you had a great time. I'm gonna have to put Wickiup on my list of lakes to check out!!

Re: My best fishing trip ever!!!!
Elktalker,
We fished Wickiup the same time period you did. Saw you and your crew. Nice boat and it looked like you were having a blast. We tried trolling when the jigging would peter out. We did OK, but not near the success you had. Way to Go!

Mine is a 1989 with less than 80 hours. The Original owner was an old man who died before ever putting the boat in the water. His family took the boat out on the anniversary of his death for years until one of the kids started using it more, Still not much wear and tear on the boat.

Elktalker,
I don't even fish for kokanee, but the detail of your report was great. Much appreciated by all. And I also tip my hat to you for exposing the kids to this great sport. Awesome!!!

I have ordered from Kokaneemart a few times. All my glow beads are from them and now I see they have uv beads so I guess I need to order from them again.
