Thumbs up Engine Failure

Just got the bad news that my 351 boat engine is dead. Only two cylinders have compression and they are not much. It also has two stuck valves and 2 loose rocker arms. The engine is a 351 Windsor mounted to an AT 309 pump. Looking for input on replacement options. I found one business out of Miami listed on eBay named Rapido Marine (http://www.rapidomarine.com/) for only $1250.00 for a Rebuilt 351 Marine Engine with one year warranty. Is this too good to be true? Does anyone have any other recommendations? Looking for input since I have never been in this situation before. Feel free to PM me with pros and cons I understand this website isn't an Ifish sponsor. So hopefully I haven't broken any ifish rules. If so I apologize

Thanks...

Red Line in Lewistion, Idaho is a good option. They have a 351 with 8 Yr or 800 hr warranty for 1,695. KEM (Kodiak) equipment in Oregon is another engine source. Both of these companies are very reputable companies and have good warranty support.

Thanks everyone for your help,

If anyone has any other recommendation please keep them coming. My old engine was a Redline. So I will definitely check them out. Do they have a website? I called them the other week and never got an answer. I will try back though.

Personally I like KEM since they are located in Tualatin and you could pick it up. If you need parts down the road their there and have a gret group of guys that can give suggetions.

One other note, if you can switch to a 350 you might do that since you can get more from a stock 350 than you can get out of a 351.

If I went with a 350 wouldn't I have to replace all the exhaust manifolds? I was hoping to reuse them to keep price as low as possible.

I am sure you would have to replace them. Buy local if you can, it sure helps down the road

The only different's between a 350 and 351 is one is chev and one is ford. Yes there is a different's in apples and oranges.
