Alumadrifter?
I am thinking about trading my dirt bike for an Alumaweld Alumadrifter and I am wondering if anybody has had experience with them and will give me some input. I think they have a little different shape than the traditional drift boat....... It is a 1984 and looks like it is in OK shape and the trailer is useable but could use a little TLC.
Also, what would a boat like this be worth (I want to make sure it would be a fair trade)? I know drift boats hold value pretty well....... It comes with oars and an anchor but no kicker........ Like I said above it looks like its in decent shape, no dents or anything that I can see in the picture but could be cleaned up.

Re: Alumadrifter?
I had a alumadrifter and sold it a couple of years ago. It rowed like a barge. Worked ok on lakes with a kicker. But really its a boat that was made to do both and it does neither one well.
That my opinon. I sold mine withthe kicker for $4000.00

Re: Alumadrifter?
I agree with the barge comment. Slow, sluggish, fat, won't track, put whatever synonym here.
A 1984, most likely 16 ft, alumaweld drifter....my guess $2800????????

Re: Alumadrifter?
Thanks for the replies guys. I will have to think about it a little more. Blue Book value on the dirt bike I would be trading is 2500 so as far as being a fair trade I guess it should be. I also need to take a look at the boat in person, I have only seen pictures so far. I would be using it for just about everything a drift boat can be used for so I dont really want something that I wouldnt be happy with. But on the other hand, it will hold its value better than my bike will and having a boat that isnt perfect is better than having no boat at all!!

Re: Alumadrifter?
Depends on what You want to use it for. I had one for 10 years and used it in the Columbia, where it was easy to anchor. With the rowing seat out and a seat on the rear storage cabinet, it was a fine troller for 3 guys at the wind, and at Drano. I didn't like the way it rowed when drifting the rivers, but for a salmon boat it was great. I had a 15hp electric start Johnson that purred. Prob put over 300 salmon and steelhead in that boat.
