Two of everything...
Okay, as I am trying to learn all I can about being safe and sound on the big waters (even the not so big waters), I am making a list of things that I need as far as back up goes.
What are the main things that you guys (and gals) make sure that you have to satisfy the "two of everything" rule??? My boat is an IO.
Thanks for the help

Two nets? Bah, you can net two fish in one net. Two gaffs. Can't gaff two fish with one gaff. I can always gaff a fish if the net is otherwise occupado.

Re: Two of everything...
Cellphone, and before you start groaning, a cell phone carried by a passenger on a Homer charterboat a couple of years ago saved their butts. VHF shorted out, Portable did not have the range. Boat sunk, all rescued!!
Above all do not let TWO of everything make you TOO overconfident.
Remember the flares and signalling devices!!
Charts work very well in conjunction with depth finders. Especially in the fog.

And a dry bag & float for your cell phone and camera. Neither work well at 600' below the surface, right Pilar?

Re: Two of everything...
One set of rubber boots takes care of needing two sets of socks and shoes. I can't believe how many of my crew show up wearing tennis shoes and are looking up at the sea gulls when I dump five gallons of water on the deck to wash down, and they look at me like "why did you do that, now my feet are wet." Cripes! We're saltwater fishing, not catching hatchet trout!
It really kills me. I laugh my butt off every time. Not one has had backup shoes or socks, but my 11 dollar white shrimpers boots do not mark the deck and keep my feet dry. Wool socks in winter, cotton in summer.
Easy peasy.

Re: Two of everything...
That's a pretty comprehensive list. I don't carry the igintion parts, because there is no way I could service them on the water.
I will add one:
Navigation methods (this can be two GPS's, a compas, chart, and stopwatch, Radar, etc.)
and underscore another:
Running Mates that you trust with your life and the life of your crew
