Albies caught
5/17 - caught out at butterfly bank out of San Diego! Just a matter time now and a good SW blow.
Better start lubing those reels!
It's going to be interesting to see how this season shapes up with $5.50/gal at the docks.

Saw the same BD report James. Not sure what to think but..........could be. Never know until you get a witness.

Re: Albies caught
Guys, guys, guys, & girls. Listen to the radio. (radio from heaven)
976-tuna. Legend caught albies. Creditable boat. The report from BD was from two guys fishing, might or might not have happened. But the long range fleet are on them now.
It won't be long now when the big numbers start to hit the docks.

Re: Albies caught
Did you read Tommy's report James? Lots of stuff in place for the albies to show up. Anytime I would say.

Re: Albies caught
I heard a rumor that a Salty Dog was going to try for May tuna.

I'm not at liberty to say but it is an Oregon port.

Re: Albies caught
I haven't really been paying attention to the correlation between CA tuna and when they hit OR.
Are CA tuna a good predictor of when the OR tuna will show?
If so, any educated guesses on when the tuna will be in OR?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Albies caught
MB is the winner from last season finding a good number of fish the 15th of June. Earliest CR tuna I have heard of is June 9th about three or 4 years ago. Have not heard or witnessed May tuna yet but that does not mean they do not exist.
Water off the CR Sunday was 52 degrees. I have caught tuna in 56.5 degree green water before off Garibaldi. I could happen but this boy will wait for the report of fish. Don't have the bucks to speculate.

Re: Albies caught
Bernie, I think MB got the first Tuna of the year honors last year on June 9th, Tracker/Seelicious June 15th.

San Diego Albies come up mostly from Mexico Waters, PNW Albies mostly from the SW twards Hawaii, there is a push of Tuna Water at 38 x 130, possibly within MB range from Brookings. Anybodys guess when they will be within sportboat range up here, won't be long tho.

Cod Father got his last year on May 28th. Out of the CR while halibut fishing. He has pictures. That's why he is the Teflon Tuna Don!

Yeah Mike. See the difference between the N. Pacific SST taken on May 15th, and the one taken today?
See the finger of warmer water headed our direction, right in line with us and the Hawaiian islands? If you look at last years SSTs, you'll see the same highway begin to form about this time.

Had to give that old salty dog credit where credit is due. You have to remember. Ray is on the water just about everyday. It would sure be nice if he caught one on his birthday.

Re: Albies caught
Were we writing about tuna?
Sorry folks, I was referring to Jessica Alba being caught. She was secretly married yesterday in Southern Cal.
Alba, Albies, I get those mixed up all the time.
Just kidding. But seriously folks, this tuna hwy is really building. It shouldn't be to long now. Just remember to take a few clones when halibut fishing this weekend.
(Now were did I leave those daisy chains?) (Women, where are my secrete, secrete, plastic baits?)

Re: Albies caught
Big difference between Alba and Albie. The first one is mighty fine. The second one I am really allowed to chase without repercussions. lol
