Circle hooks work great for us (Serious Fun, myself and 3 other friends). Limited 5 people all 4 days. We add a second regular hook to a Pilar type set up. We have not experienced having to let the fish eat it. If we feel the fish we set the hook and they are there (yes, set the hook, even with the circle hook). I think adding the extra hook compensates for the times when the circle hook misses.
On the second day we got 4 keepers in our first drift (would have had all 5, except for the shark on the 5th rod). Got the 5th on the start of the second drift, left with all 5 by 8 AM. Heard others lost a lot of gear second weekend, so did we.
Anyone have some cheap 32 and 48oz sinkers?

don't use em MR.F I totally agree with Wak'm on the subject, will they and do they work, sure... but they were taylor made for commercial long line sets where a flattie has all the time in the world to hook them selves.Wak's last two fish were hooked close to 100ft off the bottom

We hammered them on the old circle boys. With the offset shanks we landed everyone that was hooked except for one small one that got away. Good times rippn some lips. Can't wait until June.
