May 22, 2002

2002 Fishery Update

Central Oregon Coast All-depth Recreational Pacific Halibut Fishery will re-open for Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8.

Sufficient poundage remains after the May recreational fishery for an additional two days of fishing on June 7 and 8, 2002 for Pacific halibut in all-depth waters between Cape Falcon and Humbug Mountain. Catch during the May 10, 11, 17, and 18 opener was approximately half of what was expected preseason. If additional poundage remains after the June 7 and 8 opener, the fishery may also be open on one or both of the following dates: June 21 and 22. Click here for catch data .

The recreational Pacific halibut fishery between Cape Falcon and Humbug Mountain remains open inside of the 30-fathom curve seven days a week. This fishery will remain open until either the quota is reached or September 30, 2002, whichever occurs first.

The Oregon recreational Pacific halibut fishery also remains open in all-depth waters north of Cape Falcon and south of Humbug Mountain seven days a week.

The daily bag limit is the first fish 32 inches or longer and the annual limit is six Pacific halibut.

Am I reading that right? Second weekend out of Newport produced more fish? I'm sure more people got out because of the water conditions, but the fishing was slow, slow, slow.

No help required, thanks for the offer. It's a matter of parts. I need the trim tab, and I am not sure I will have it by then.

Kurt, Did you have Mark, Lloyd or Don check the West Marine bargain store in Oakland? They might have just the tab to sell. That is where all the returns for the entire West Marine chain goes. They are open Wendesday through Sunday 10-5.

Hey Kurt! You might try that outfit on Sandy Blvd. at about 223rd. It looks like a boat bone yard.

Hey RJ...I will be back from Az. for sure by then...stay up on this OK.

Oh ya....we have one little thing to do on the way out, My Uncle asked me if I could do his friend a favor....he asked if I could take his parents out, and I said probably.
Then he said GREAT, when you get outside 3 miles can you throw them in........Cough.....So you might have guessed, yup! we have some ashes to dump......I hope this doesn't freak you out.

What next......

Dadburn kids why did they have to choose this year to graduate high school. Maybe I will get lucky and she will flunk out this year. Naw its a done deal. I hope that nobody catches a durn thing   that way we can get out on the second dates and do some catching.

Ray give me a call or mail and I will get you those numbers for where we picked up those 18 mile butts last week. Beats the heck out of going 32 for them. However all good things in life cost nothing is free.

Dan!
