Question Water-Fuel Seperator Install

So after getting some advice from people on here, as to where to install my water fuel seperator I got the job done. Nothing difficult, I have installed one before for my inboard. However, the problem I had was when I tried to prime the bulb for my kicker or main motor I cannot draw gas from the tank through the seperator. I checked for suction and leaks, everything seems okay. I finally gave up and bypassed the seperator and the bulb primed just fine. What am I missing?

You need an anti siphon valve. West Marine has them, they look just like your barbed connections going in and out but it'll have a one way valve inside.

is the bulb between the filter and tank? mine is and primes fine without the anti-syphon.....your description makes it sound like the bulb is between filter and motor...

Yes, between the filter and motor. Sounds like the anti siphon connections are the ticket and a much easier fix.
