Re: RV dealers in Portland
Looking to buy a tent trailer, and drive by there all the time when I pick my little girl up from school. What makes them great?

Re: RV dealers in Portland
Mostly I have just been looking myself. They answer all my questions with honesty even though I am just looking. I have gone back and fourth three or four times and when we wanted to compare two fivers with each other they moved them right next to each other so we wouldn't have to walk. Price quotes and general good service every time and I still haven't bought yet. (not because of them) I definitely will buy from them when I do actually get it just finances gotta be taken care of first.

Re: RV dealers in Portland
Thanks! I've heard good things, but wanted some real examples. Looks like I know where our first stop will be.

Re: RV dealers in Portland
My only suggestion is to buy a good used unit. Let someone else take the hit on the quick depreciation. Some folks in todays economy are selling lower than normal.

Re: RV dealers in Portland
[Not a dealer but shop used stuff online, all the dealers and private parties list on them. I have bought and sold a lot of RV best thing to find if you can is a private seller that knows the real value of his or her unit. In other words they have been told a trade in price and or cash offer from dealer. They didn't like the offer and are offering unit for sale themselves so they can make a purchase of new unit. Or they just want to get out of RVing. I recently puchased a 36' Everest by Keystone with 4 slides for $10,000 under book. It has never been on the road and is a 2005 model.
Check the book on any unit and don't add anything for options, (dealers don't) and reduce price by 25% and that is where you can likely purchase with a motivated seller assuming you have cash or fininacing of your own. Good luck on your hunt. Top O Hill in Auroa, Or also is a consignment place with a large inventory you might want to check out. If your up for a road trip go to Junction City and Coburg you can look at more RV's than you will ever need or want to.

Re: RV dealers in Portland
I bought a 31.5 wilderness at Gresham RV two years ago, good sales staff but I've never needed any service from them. The only problem I had was with the hot water heater, turned out to be operator error on the winter bypass valve . I have had service done at Curtis on past RV's, no real complaints and the sales staff was great when I was shopping.
I would echo, look at the used trailers. There are a lot of 1-2 year old units out there. I was looking at downsizing to 10' camper since my son is going to college and it's just me and my wife now ( I like to camp a little more remote than my wife ). As fast as RV's depreciate, I might end up with older hunting camper and just keep the trailer to keep my wife happy the two weeks a year we use it .

Re: RV dealers in Portland
After spending some time looking at new and used, without a doubt I will go used.

Re: RV dealers in Portland
As far a s 5th wheel you could look at mine, 2005 Cougar 29' with a great floor plan. If interested you could look at General for sale under Cougar.

Smart of you. Sooz and I bought a brand-new one at Curtis a couple of years ago, popped it open one time to camp, fell in love with a little motor home and sold the "used" pop-up.
New cost --- $12,000
Sold "used" --- $9,500.
