Default Sturgeon at the Fishery

Hey everybody. I have a friend from out of town that comes up to go sturgeon fishing every year at this time. He usually likes to fish out of the Fishery or Rooster Rock. Has anybody been fishing up there? I havn't heard much and I would like to contribute to the trip this time! I am not looking for specific spots, he has his own favorites, I am just looking for helpfull info. We will probably start around the wall and go upriver from there so any help would be appreciated. So how about it? Anybody? Thanks in advance! If it is a secret just p.m. me, it is a once a year deal for him.

Not sure about the timing...I hit the fishery when the smelt start coming in,I dont think there that far up river yet but it should be "real close", might be worth checking.hav'nt been there yet this yr. keep us posted if you go.

Thanks Hawg Caller. I thought it usually picked up about now, but I havn't heard anything yet. (hence the post) I thought in years past it was pretty good around end of February, start of March. Am I wrong? I don't have a boat or much experience fishing that area so any input on timing would be great.

Holy Quintuple posts Batman!

just funnin ya Monkey Boy! Be careful when you use the refresh on your browser after posting. It'll keep posting over and over again.

I have yet to hear of any productive sturgeon fishing east of the channel. The channel has been so hot that no one has needed to go anywhere else. Now, that it seems that it has slowed i the channel a little there might be some more experimentation.

Thanks Ivana Fishalot. Can you tell I am a rookie? It does sound like it is slowing down around the channel and Willamette. Maybe somebody will mix it up and try other places soon. Thanks for the input. I think everybody has gone SPRINGER happy! What do you think of a bannana wrapped kwikfish?

I'm glad to see that you took my prodding lighthearted. I am always afraid to kindly rib someone on here. You never know when your going to tick someone off. I was born with the worse talent in the world. My talent is that my mouth can get me in trouble FAST! I never (seldom anyway  ) mean any harm.

I can't wait for the fishery to get fired up though. I have fallen in love with fresh sturgeon fish n chips or poorman's lobster. Both are heaven.
