Garabaldi Halibut Fishing
Fished out of Garabaldi both Friday and Saturday (today). Friday the ocean was fine but the catching was hard. We finally boated are fifth and final halibut at 3:30 pm. We also got three good size lings. The biggest was 56 pounds. Today was a different story. The ocean did not cooperate and there was a wind chop all day. In 8 years of running to the halibut beds I have not returned without a limit, except for today. We only managed one 45 pounder while losing one other. We fished to 3:00 today. I did not see 1/10th the normal catch that I normally do. Most of the locals I know expressed the same. FYI- A brand new 24 foot boat with twin outboards sunk itself today at the reef. The four people on board were rescued by the Okland Pilot. The boat was last seen hull up drifting with a marker buoy on it.
