Re: Butt Derby????
Hey Kurt, you've done this before..... Will you accept the nomination as tourney master?
Tell us how to do it right. IMHO, I think biggest fish or avg. weight per rod on a boat. We need to agree on an 'official' scale as well. One or the other, winner takes all.
Maybe scan the road on the way down and find a road kill skunk   to give the skunked boat, if there is one. A pot each day?
All Ifishers or Newport only?
Will the next contestant on 'The fish is huge' come on down!

Re: Butt Derby????
I think $5.00 per stick, winner takes all, biggest fish each day.
All boats are either all in, or all out. PERIOD!
Cash payable at to the tourny director befor heading out.
Each port should have their own director.
One offical scale.
I am going to fishermans this week to pick up something of good quality to have in my fish box.
Does anyone have some input on whats the best value for my scale buying dollar??

Re: Butt Derby????
I'll do it, if you guys trust me with your money. Here's the rules.
1. $3 bucks per person.
2. If I don't have money in hand before we start fishing that day you are out. This means see me Thursday night or Friday before 5am. Judging is over at sunset Friday night.
3. Everyone in the boat is in or no one is. Captains, this mean's you pay me for your whole crew or your out.
4. No scale. Tape measure. Scale's aren't accurate enough and halibut are fairly uniform. Longest fish wins. Ask 3 people to weigh a 60 pound fish and you will get 3 weights back. Unless you have a very nice, fixed mount scale.
5. Anyone who get's ***** about the judging is disqualified.
6. 60% to the winner.
25% to second.
15% to third.
7. Newport fishermen only. No bringing one down from AK.
Alternatively we could have a weigh in at the campground at 6pm. That way everyone with a big feesh can drag one over at the same time, we can all share a beer and compare and then clean em up.
Same thing Saturday, but with a vengance.

Butt Derby????
Ok, does anyone want to make a little wager?
First fish, most fish, biggest fish, best boat-load-a?
Just don't give the money to Puffins crew, he'll head right for the Cuban embassy on a cigar mission.

Re: Butt Derby????
The captian and crew of the Wally Gator are in. And the supply of Cuban cigars is very limited.
How are we going to work it, John? $5.00 per wager, per man? Biggest fish, First fish, Most total weight for # of people fishing each boat?
This sounds like it needs some rules.
Lets put something together.

Re: Butt Derby????
I'm sure my crew would all be up for a little Derby money. I would do away with the first fish however, unfair advantage to some. The total lbs. per# of fisherman in a boat sounds cool. Biggest? Yea baby bring it on!!!

Re: Butt Derby????
Ah thunk it shood be biggest feesh. Period.
Mostly luck, I know, but it will be fun. Which day, each day or both days? I say one tourney each day. Biggest fish, everyone who is in has to chime in here. Everyone on the boat must be in or no one is. $5 per day.

Re: Butt Derby????
How bout $20 per boat and everyone onboard is eligable and its biggest fish? I must warn you guys though I have a secret weapon onboard "Deepsleeper" or "Ed" as we like to call him, He snores like a freight train, but when he wakes up look out! fish are gunna die! So it may be a bit unfair for us to join the derby, but if you insist we are in!

Re: Butt Derby????
OK Ray no more root beer for you.
When are you gonna pick up your dogs. The (*^(*^ shepard has bitten everyone in my family at least once. I have been bitten twice (I'm not kidding) I think that he is in a lot of pain with his hips or is just disorintated. He is getting good care taken of him and he even let me in my on house for a few minutes to fill his water bowl today. If you come over my family and I have moved to the barn until its time for him to come home. Smart dog though I swear I could smell bacon and eggs cooking when I got home yesterday.
Seriously we are taking the best care that we can of him he is a cantankerous old man though.
Lets get together for a couple of cold frosty ones while we are down that way. Mine will be bigger than yours.
Everyone remember that is in the derby the rules are the first fish over 32 inches.
Dan!

Re: Butt Derby????
This sounds worthy, especially with the rules Threemuch suggested. However, due to tiny boat syndrome and higher winds forcasted for Newport seas than further north, this guy is heading for the flats off Geribaldi. Who else with the same destination is up for a derby?.. start a new post please.

Re: Butt Derby????
Hey Kurt, I hope you don't plan on running off with all those one dollar bills!
Of course the winner Friday is required to bring the suds for Saturday's weigh/tape in correct?
Alternatively meet at the campground at 6pm? Or did you mean we will meet at the campground at 6pm?
Capin' Dan, your schedule is hard to figure out, call me.
Mr. F, are back yet? Check your mail and give me a buzz as well.
The Batphone # is 503-849-7519.

Re: Butt Derby????
We can do the weigh (measure) at 6pm at the campground or people can weigh in whenever they can find me. I should be back no later than 4. That's the hardest part of these tourneys is getting everyone in one place with their feesh. So let's say have your fish to the campground by no later than 6. If you can measure and record with me before then, we will call it good.

Re: Butt Derby????
Dan!, Dan!, Dan!,
Maxx is a Sheep DOG!, Not a SHEEP!
He don't take kindley to people sneaking up behind him with velcro gloves on.
He told me to tell you that he would take care of your next exam for free and you would know where BOTH PAWS are.
Seriously though, thanks for taking such fine care of my dogs. You're the greatest.
See you at the weigh in....
Mr. F.
