Anybody fishing Westport or Neah Bay? Any reports? I haven't been out yet, but will probably hit one of these as soon as conditions are good. Hopefully next week.
Wesport (within 20 miles) doesn't hold a candle to Neah for halibut, but it is a day trip for me. Neah is a 5 hour road trip from Olympia, so need about 3 days to make it worth it. Should be able to at least pick up bottom fish at Westport if no flatties. Some really good bottom fishing at Neah, too especially if tides/currents are right.
Also, Port Angeles is a day trip and opens on the 9th.
If anyone is interested, can share expenses and can go on short notice during week, is not a real puker, and can enjoy just being out there (this is not a paid/guaranteed charter service), email me. I like 1 captain and 1 passenger (2 total) in the boat.
I have a 99 21' Striper with radar, FPS, VHF, everything pretty much.
Fishing regs vary by location. See
http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/do/apr02/apr0902c.htm for halibut dates, quotas and which days it is open.
