Boycot Diamond Lake if that's true. We will show them. Never mind that dogs save thousands of life's a year.....and peformed duties in society that take care of disabled people.

No that doesn't sound right unless its a new policy. Never heard of forest service having that rule in any campground. AS for the private ones in the area:

I love dog as much as the next guy/gal - but is frustrating to go thru all the time & expense to get "out of town" only to listen to someones dog barking. We call Bullards Beach in Bandon - Bark Beach-lots of dogs.

Re: Pets Not Allowed At Diamond Lake Campground????
Sounds like an interesting but not well founded restriction of dogs considering that more than half of American households have dogs. While I do not have specific numbers I would imagine that the percentage of dog-owning sportsmen is much higher. I certainly sympathize with those that don't like to listen to barking, it drives me bonkers also, but that is an owner problem more than a dog problem some simple training/appropriate dog management and that problem is solved.

They make shock collars for that... strap them on the owners neck and apply level 5 for as long as it take to get the dog to stop barking.

Sounds good in theory but the bottom line is if you allow dogs you're gonna have barking. Simple as that. Unfortunatly like most everything else it only takes a couple bad apples to ruin it for everyone. How about dogs in half the campgrounds and other half dog free. Okay flame on!

Re: Pets Not Allowed At Diamond Lake Campground????
That's going to make for an interesting dog jumping event in August.
The NW Challenge is being held there at the Marina and I gaurantee you there are close to 100 jumping dogs coming.
Bow wow wow.
Who exactly said no dogs .... a private campground, the marina, the lodge, we probably need to know.
Please pm me.

I took this off of Diamond Lake Resort's website....
Pets are welcome in both cabins and motels, $10.00 per pet, per day, plus any damages. Pets may not be left unattended in rental units

Re: Pets Not Allowed At Diamond Lake Campground????
UPDATE:I talked to the forest ranger and dogs are allowed. The resevation center in Tuscoulusa, Missippi was mistaken and is being corrected. Hanna The Wonder Dog can come along and boldly defend our campsite!

I"ve wanted to do that sooooo many times. Either that or the old 12 gauge but it makes so much noise you know.

There is bad people out there who create issues so why don't we band man kind from the lake? The matter of the fact is if your dog is barking all night long take care of it. It's just about be responsable for your pets.....

Re: Pets Not Allowed At Diamond Lake Campground????
It's not the majority of "responsable" dog owners in discussion here. It's the few dip$&%'s. I have yet to see a camp host speak to someone about their barking dog that ruins the experience for me.
