Default Halibut, Halibut Halibut ????????

Question I have is for all of you fishing out of Newport the last few weeks for lings, Salmon or other species. Have any of you incidently picked up any halibut off the rock pile?

Pilar if you read this what do you think is best for the early season just head on out to the hill or stop off for some early mornig lings or see if there are any flatties hanging around the spot we hit in the fall.

Thanks Dan!

I've made three trips out of Newport in the last month and have not heard of any halibut being caught incidentally. I've made no runs to the rockpile yet, though.

Danny, I think the Halibut drive thru is the place to go early in the year. They don't seem to be in close to the beach until late summer.

We have tried the Rockpile once anyway this year and using your method, nothing but lings.

So I'm running out to the Chicken Ranch for a halibut and an orange soda.

My thinking to John, We will be right beside you if we can find you. We will not be driving up until early that morning. We should set up a time to meet at the launch or whereever. LEt me know the time you plan on leaving the dock. Will you be launching your boat that morning of what? You are welcome to send this info in a private mail if you want.

Dan!

Danny if I can head out on Thursday, I will moor on 'A' dock. That's the row right across from the brewery. If not then I will drive down early also. We usually rally at 0530 and cross the bar soon after that. That gets me to the fishing spot by 0730.

We have a few weeks to figure it out. I can't wait!
