Mole Double! - bighorn next?
Can't help it, just had to put this up on here. Today I accomplished the unthinkable... a double on moles. After they had apperantly declared Jihad on my yard over night (18 mounds)... I met mol-quada head on with firepower.
I've killed a lot of great animals over the years, but honestly I don't think I've ever been as excited as I was after pulling those eyeless fat pawed varmit carcasses out of their smoking burrows! A worthy adversary to say the least, they definately have access to state of the art siesmic monitoring devices and thermal imaging. There tunneling systems are quite complex and very intricately designed as to allow for escape routes and fresh air pockets in the event of gas and even water attacks. As commonly employed by the stealthiest of attackers, the cover of darkness is the preferred time of deployment, thus making detection all the more difficult. Often, dawn brings an almost foreign landscape dotted with mysterious 'mounds'.
As far as I can tell, I have at least 3 other sects in full opperation in other regions of my yard. They are probably calling up reinforcements and preparing to release a video as I type... believe nothing you hear. I have the upper hand and this reign of terror will end soon!
Until the mounds clear...
So, should I buy a powerball and throw my app in for a bighorn tag? This could be my year!

Good job! You've got more advanced weapon technology, with
diligence, you will prevail!

Re: Mole Double! - bighorn next?
I have shot a few moles, a 12 ga is perfect medicine and a lot easier than traps.....it would be impressive if you got them in the same shot (did you?).
Congrats on the kill and thanks for sharing

Eric...the only problem with the pic is the fact that you are wearing a beavers sweatshirt! Other than that I have no complaints. When we going fishing again?

bighorn? Think sub-terafirma.
Aardvark Safari !!!
I think the Aardvark makes its home underground most of the time. Imagine 18 aardvarks mounds in the backyard.

Re: Mole Double! - bighorn next?
You should have them mounted into a pair of "mole coasters"

Re: Mole Double! - bighorn next?
I had moles all over my yard after my neighbor hired a "vermin expert" to get them out of his yard. After a week of filling in holes every morning, I declared war. Every time I found a fresh hole, I dug it out some and filled it with a fresh pile of Lab doo. Then I covered them back over and smoothed them out. It's been 4 months, and my neighbor has been through 3 more experts and they still haven't come back. One of the guys a work asked me if it really works, and I replied "If everytime you came home, you found it filled with dog s**t, would you stay, or move?" I rest my case.

Re: Mole Double! - bighorn next?
That's awesome!
I was down in K-Falls two weekends ago and I somehow managed to kill two sage rats with one shot from my .17. It was great.
As for the South, there's only 3,500 summers over the falls and I'm sure none of them whent up the South...
