Default Whitehorse

Hi all,

Just got back from TC to Harpam. Got blown off the river today and pushed out. The river is WAY up. Oh sh_t is under water and so is the can opener. Beware.

Fishing was excellent dispite the high water. maybe because we were alone on the river.

The tick hatch is out 24/7.

Be careful out there.

I would expect it to continue to rise with the massive amount of snowmelt coming our way.

It's always like that until sometime in June. I pulled over a dozen off my dog after opening weekend despite the fact she was treated with advantix a few days prior.

Thanks for the report.

The spring flush will usually color it up at which time fishing is slow. If its high but clear you will be fine.

Looks like you did the horse at about 5000cfs. Highest I've done it was 5100. Can opener was under water but still a "must dodge".

Did ya' take in some water? I got doused pretty good that time but I was running gear for my outfitter and was quite heavy.

If it was the 10th, and taking in all the tribs below Pelton, the flow at whitehorse was around 5800. I've ran it when outflow at pelton was 5500 which put the flow at whitehorse in the mid 6000's. Fishing sucked but the ride was worth the admission.

I figure over 6000, how much water can be coming out of the White? The rest of the feeders are in by whitehorse. Trout creek is extremely high. By far the heaviest I have seen the entry. Missed a stroke at the top and still cleared the can opener by 4-5 feet. No water in the boat until the very last shoot at the bottom. I will confes to a partial "skirt" of the washing machine. One guy up front in a Koffler full of gear, it's pretty hard to take water over the bow. The real ride was buckshin then four chutes.
