Default Halibut riggings

I have seen a couple of preferred riggings in some of the posts, but going shopping for some of this stuff might be alittle much when you are not sure what you are looking for.

So, would someone post a list of items that one might look for in a tackle store, this would sorta be like a halibut shopping/fishing list for dummies.

I and a friend plan on heading out may 10/11 for the flatties and could use some pointers on the finer art of dragging a board off the bottom of the ocean

I have been out there last year so am familiar with the spots and bar crossings, just one last item to cover.

THanks,

try2fish

Tryin2fish, E-mail Mr. Fisherman. He has a parts list. What we were struggling with was where to get the stuff. In particular the 16/0 circle hooks were no where to be found.

Ray, Mr. Fisherman, found it all at Eglund marine. We are thinking about a drive to Astoria to get the hooks and maybe some Tuna gear. They seem to have it all and I want to go check it out. Maybe we can make a run for the group.

The list goes something like this, for each rig you will need ..

(1) plated 16/0 circle hook.
(3) 200lb rated barrel swivel, stainless or anodized. The right ones are $0.25 ea.
(1) small barrel swivel, 50lb rated
(1) crosslock swivel clip, like they use on the front of a Kwikfish
(3) feet of 170# stainless stranded leader, plastic coated. Made by American wire, they have this at FM.
(4) No. 11 ferrules, American Wire, also at FM
(1) glow in the dark, white, hootchie

The only other thing is lead. I bring an assortment because it is different every time. From 20 oz to 4 lb depending on the wind and current. The typical spot is from 480 to 900 ft deep. We almost always go with 2 or 3 pounders to get down quick and keep the line under the boat.
