Hecata (sp) Banks, where are we talking about?
I just talked with a "fellow" who said that the commercial guys were getting lots of salmon off of the Hecata Banks. Anyone have a location? Gps coordinates? It was just a passing comment.

Hey Mike, that is a bank offshore south of Stonewall and about as far out. I'm not sure what the launching point is but I'll look at 'Puffin's charts this evening.
I heard rumours of many fish by commercial boats caught at the north end of stonewall bank too. What does your office assistant (baitgirl) know about this?

I'm making an assumption here but Heceta sounds like it would be north of Florence. Heceta head is north of florence and the sea lion caves. I don't think you're getting over the bar in Yahacts  So as far as access go's Florence would make the most sense to me.

I'm not getting any additional information from "baitgirl" at this time. They are not ready quite yet for the season to start. But soon we will all be fishing together, coming back, cleaning up and seeing who can tell the biggest fish story. Boy, am I looking forward to that!

Captn,
Go to www.boatfix.com/chartfrm.htm . Then select "San Francisco to Cape Flattery". Then, find chart #18580 - Cape Blanco to Yaquina Head.
Heceta Banks is due west of Florence, and by my calculation on my monitor, about 30 NM out.
You should be able to decypher a Lat/Lon from the chart, or just get a copy of the chart.

Mystic Sea,
Now THAT's what I call an answer to a question.
Thanks for the great resource.
