Wickiup Kokes
I've been fishing by Sheeps Bridge CG for a few years now, right before they close the season there and have had alot of luck with all sorts of fish including Browns, Brook trout, and tons of Kokanee.
The Kokanee are generally large and fat. The problem is most of them are getting ready to spawn or are spawning and are in pretty bad shape which does not make for good eating.
My question is where do I go to nail these monsters earlier on before they head in to spawn? What do you use? Thanks for your help.

Re: Wickiup Kokes
I have little experience with Wickiup, but for kokes, trolling, jigging and Baitfishing are all good techniques. A quality fishfinder is paramount for finding these fish. Do a Search on "kokanee" on here and start reading, there is tons of information here.
Welcome to Ifish,

Re: Wickiup Kokes
My most productive spot for Kokes is on the main Reservior. When they start schooling, anchor up over them in 30 - 45 ft of water and jig is my preferred method. Some years though it can be tough and not very productive, but other years, I've caught limits within 50 yards of the boat ramp jigging in a float tube. I will be there later this week, and put up a report on Monday.

Are you sure you weren't fishing in your Grandma's Koi pond? I have a hard time believing you could even identify a Kokanee. Maybe they were bluegill? Either way, your best bet for good fish would be the local fish market......

Does anybody know this byebyeducky? Is he serious? That was downright rude. Unless of course he was joking.
I thought this would be the place to get some tips but apparently I just get sarcastic remarks from ducky.
Thanks to everyone else though, there is some good stuff on here.

Re: Wickiup Kokes
Did I hurt your feelings there? Sorry bout that. It's just that in my past experience in fishing with you, it seemed like maybe you would have better luck netting Goldfish from one of those tanks at Wal-Mart.
Just send me a pm anytime you would like some fishing tips or advice

Re: Wickiup Kokes
Sounded rude to me. He had the opportunity to say he was joking and didn't. Not everyone is like that. Maybe he could identify himself. Obviously someone who knows you or at least thinks he does.

Re: Wickiup Kokes
Glad to hear that guys were just joking around and not serious. I have seen a few posts that were not just joking around and it really irritates the crud out of me.
Sorry, I jumped the gun.

Someone who knows what is going on! Actually, we are pretty good friends (you couldn't tell), Just like to throw jabs at eachother. Luckily we haven't thrown eachother overboard yet.

Now that I got the thread all screwed up, Back to the original intent. I as well would love to know where to catch these "lunkers" that he keeps telling me about.

Re: Wickiup Kokes
As someone else mentioned... Follow the boats.
We have done the best by staying in the channel in 25+ feet of water. We either jig or use bait. We see a lot of people troll wedding rings. We mostly fish between the main boat ramp at Gull Point to the ramp accross from South Twin

Re: Wickiup Kokes
Thanks guys we'll have to try for em' when we can get away from work for a little.
As for babyducky - yeah I guess you could call us friends, I mainly use him for his boat and he is an awfull good netter. I've grabbed the net a couple times, but that was just to take it in or out of the boat. Maybe someday he'll actually bring one of the few minnows he hooks all the up to the boat instead of practicing catch and release at 30 yards. Better yet, maybe I'll hand off the rod one of these times just to watch the joy in his eyes as he lands a fish bigger than 8 inches for the first time.
