Concealed Handgun Regulatory Changes
For those of you whom this may affect, be aware of some changes coming. These may or may not affect you based on where you carry but just so you know and are not caught unawares.

I think this is the time when comments can be made. I'm sure there are many on this board that can be affected.

Thanks for the link. Heard about it but couldn't fine the text on it. Good move at the Federal level. Brings everything in line with other Fed Agencies.

Re: Concealed Handgun Regulatory Changes
I'm not sure where you're coming from Duckboy. Currently you have no federal right to carry a firearm in a National Park (unless it's unloaded and not readily accessible), the feds effectively have trumped your state law in NPs with regards to right to carry. This proposal would return that control to the state law that applies where the NP is - if that state allows it and you have the recognized permit, you could carry legally in a NP (concealed of course), which you cannot do now, regardless of the state.

What if the bordering state does not have CCP laws in place?

Then you have to abide by that state's laws if you're within the border of that state - just like it is now. I don't see how this proposal takes away anything except the Federal restriction on CCPs in National Parks. Maybe I missed something?

It's about time! Long overdue.
Duckboy....where you coming from? Your statements do not make sense.
We definitely need to speak loudly on getting this through the mill.

Re: Concealed Handgun Regulatory Changes
The only question I have is, is the present regulations on carrying a firearm through a park still going to be in force? Or is it only CCP holders that are going to be allowed. I could not ferret that out of the purposed change. One would suppose that would be the case, but I didn't see it. I'm talking about the broken down and unloaded regulation.

Re: Concealed Handgun Regulatory Changes
Yes, the present regulations will still be in force. This proposed legislation would only affect CCP holders, except those states that do not require a permit for CCP (Vermont, Alaska) then it could apply to all residents of those states and likely non-residents as well).

Yes, about time! You can all thank the NRA & GOA for taking up this battle and putting on the pressure.
