All signs are pointing toward an awesome Saturday night buffet with fresh razor clams, tons of crab and lings and bass. Wooooohoooo!
We'll be heading for Gearhart for an early morning clamming expedition. Low tide is something like 7:00 am, I believe. After that, we are heading for Garibaldi.
Let's see if I can remember this routine. Cross the bar at Garibaldi. Go 3 miles down and drop the pots in 40 feet of water. Continue another 3 miles south and I'll see 3 Arches near the shore. Hmmmmm. Anyone have GPS coordinates for those 3 Arches? I've never been there before.
I'll be in a red Alumaweld Intruder with Stoyjun Princes of Ifish and her husband. I'll also have my two kids with me.
Anyone else planning a voyage in that neck of the woods this weekend? If so, bring the suntan lotion!
Life is good.

Hi Moby, sounds like a party. Try closer to the Jetty for crabs say about.
N45 33.350' by W123 57.732'
For Pete's sake be careful near the beach! If the surf is breaking way far out stay clear. This point should get you in the ball park. Bout 1/2 mile from the jetty to the south. Drop them about 100 to 150 yds apart in 30 to 40 ft of water. Use lots of bait.
At 3 Arch look for bass by the awash rocks at
N45 27.430' by W123 59.526'
Rockfish and as long as you don't mind black rockfish you can catch 10 a piece. The area around the rocks is only open till mid May so get it while it's open. Don't get too close to the rocks until you understand the wind and currents there. Go onto the rocks means you are going for a swim.
There's a route you can punch in if you want. I doubt if you'll get fog but if you do here's your breadcrumb trail home.
Starting in the Barview end of the jetties an going to 3 arch it goes like this.
WayPt # Lat. Lon. Comment
1 N45 33.968' W123 56.803' Barview
2 N45 43.122' W123 57.941' Jaws
3 N45 32.542' W123 58.014' 1st one
4 N45 30.898' W123 58.579' 2nd one
5 N45 29.705' W123 59.358' 3rd one
6 N45 28.010' W123 59.724' 4th one
7 N45 27.686' W123 59.751' 5th one
8 N45 27.440' W123 59.559' Bass-o-matic
Now a word of caution. Only a fool accepts GPS coordinates and trusts them implicitly. I use the trust but verify plan on my boat. These are good numbers but until you test them do not trust them. Don't blindly follow a route onto the rocks or through the surf.
Good luck and happy hunting.
PS: the area around 3 arch is infested with rockfish. Just watch your sonar for bumps on the bottom and clouds of fish.

I agree Kurt, you guys be careful. The swells are long period, which means they will not be that steep. But as you can see the trend is for a bigger ocean. You will have to buck the wind all the way to 3 arch and it will be at our back coming in. That's the good news. \
The bad news is that with a 7ft+ swell you have very little margin for wind before you get into prime chumming conditions. At best a bumpy, pukey ride for your passengers, at worst a scary ride in the Ocean.
Please be careful and check out the weather before you run to the hole.
