Thumbs down Suttle Lake 5/8/80

If wind surfing was your game them you missed a great day on the water. For us Kokanee guys it sucked. Wind 20/25mph, swell 4, wind wave 3 @ 1sec. We did manage to get three fish but could not hold on the spot with my 16' boat. Cold also. The only bright lite we did get to me a couple of ifishers face to face. aufish101 and Dennis (miss his handle). The fish were there seen them on the meter and saw a fish finning but hard to cast at the a ramming speed. Next time. Well that is our story and sticking to it.

Fatdad - You can't blame me - I was sending good mojo your way, not bad mojo 'cause I couldn't go!! Remember, this was a recon trip so that when I go next time you guys know where to go where I can catch all the fish!!

Remember, any day fishing is better than working - wish I could have been there!

I can't quite figure out why ,when your in a HUGE 16' craft you let a few 4' waves bother you? Get a real anchor for pete's sake, like a 75lb'er!

Sounds tough, but, you guys toughed it out I am sure. Got a cpl for breakfast. More than I got today for my 16 hr day. Joni and I did get to walk around EE Wilson birdwatching,

Real fish on Sun and Mon

thanks for sharing that worthless report

wind and suttle go together. generally surprises everybody because the lake isn't very big by most koke standards. while a real chore to keep the anchor from dragging, take it for a fact if you can get it done the fish don't notice the wind and waves down where they are at. I use the boats movement to put the jig in action! Surprisingly works well, sometimes unbelievably so. Not for the faint of heart though.

I was there last weekend also and did ok. MAN! I am glad I read this post before I take off today. I had no idea Suttle could actually get that rough, I've heard rumors, but by the size of it I wouldn't have guessed. Suppose I'll bite the big one and take my bigger boat this weekend incase that wind decides to get wild.
I too like jigging during a good wind. I'll just toss that river anchor over the side and let the boat to the work!

Shoot, if any of you Suttle pros could give me a piece of advice I'd appreciate it. I've got a few hours until my buddies get off work and I'm starting to rethink the Suttle idea after checking the weather report. It's suppose to be 8 mph or so Sat with 20 gusts. For Sunday they are saying 15 mph with 35 gusts. Should I just go to Plan B? I don't mind jigging in the wind, but there are limits!

If I would have known what it was going to be like I would have taken the big boat and weathered it out. I will know next time. Thanks for the advise everyone, lesson learned.

Get well soon Robjw and get back out there. If your boat still wants to go fishing I will take it.I would hate for it to sit around on dry land and think about all the other boats that are out having fun.

Great meeting you Andy and John! It was definitely the high point of an otherwise forgettable day. Just got back this afternoon (Sat) and reckon I'll put up a report too.
