Default What size electric trolling motor?

Hi All,

I would like some input on how big of a bow mounted electric trolling motor I'd need to easily maneuver around. I have a 20' sled, water displacement according to the sea trial paperwork is 3700#. I'd like to keep to 24v if possible.

Thanks,

SMJ

I also had a 20 ' sled and I put a bow mount Minkota on it with 70lbs of thrust, which required two batteries. Worked great. You can also go to Minkota's web- site and they have a motor selection tutorial.

Minnkota Terrova 24 volt 60" shaft 80 pound thrust. I like (and have) the autopilot feature and the copilot wireless remote control. 2 good Trojan group 31 batteries and a top notch on board automatic charger.

I would seriously consider however, looking at the Centennial deep cycle marine batteries (group D27). They are the same weight and ampree per/hr as the trojans and are about a third or more less. I have had both and I am very happy with the Centennials. Cannot agree more on the charger. Why by expensive batteries and not maintain them?

I'm with FishMojo. The biggest 24v Minn-Kota makes. Also a big autopilot/copilot fan.

PS: DannyP, do you have some specs on these Centennial batteries. A gr27 with a much capacity as the grp31 Trojon scs225 and 2/3 the price???....tell us more. Seems too good to be true.
Doesn't bigger plates and more acid = more capacity?

Call and Speak to Travis at Batteries NW in Salem, he is the one who sold me on them. You are asking some questions I just do not know how to answer. I do know they apparently have the identical plate sizes.
