Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
I've got Friday night open....maybe get together share a beer, try on each others backpacks and talk hunting and gear?
Maybe we could get some Badlands, Nimrods, Hardcores, this Mystery Pack and any others you might have together and get a chance to check them out and hear what you like and don't like about your particular pack.
Maybe Friday is too soon.......the bigger the turn out the better and if we don't have all the major brands covered we'd just be talking. Maybe that's enough but I wouldn't mind hearing (and seeing) what you like about your pack.
Although I like my packs...I'm always on the hunt for a better one.

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
I'm in, I just got my new pack - its a regular backpack pack that I hope to use for wilderness hunts, but I'm also really looking at the Hardcore pack as a new daypack so it would be nice to look over all that there are. I'd sure like to know if anyone has a Kifaru pack?? Thats another one I'd like to see before I plunk down the money on one. Being a gear junky this is a great idea.

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
unless we can get some of the guys with the "cool" packs on board, there is no real point in getting the cart before the horse.
And I also realize that with spring bear, turkey, and halibut seasons underway that folks might already be booked for Saturday. And I have to admit I'd just as soon keep Sat open for turkey myself.
That's why I suggested Friday.
But maybe that is not doable on short notice.
Monkey, you have a Mystery Pack? can you make Friday?
I have a Nimrod pinnicle but I don't have the Wilderness Bag to go with it or the frame.
Who has a Hardcore?
Who has some of the Badlands?
I'd also like to see a Kifura, anybody have one?
Anyone have a MOLLE? I have an Alice w/ frame.
I also have a highly modified Smart Rig that some might find will give them creative ideas.

Pack snobs
I only have a Wilderness Pack Specialty made down in K Falls, so I guess I'll go hunting or check a trailcam since I'm not a pack elitist

Well, I thought the thread title was witty. No snoodiness here.
So are you out? ... I'd like to see your pack. Do you have a link?

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
I have both a Nimrod and a Hardcore. I could make a weekday evening. How about a Tuesday or Thursday evening? Weekends I am on the boat, Fridays are for Mrs. Old Guy....

I have a Mystery Ranch Nice Frame and the Load sling attachment. I also have a Wilderness Specialties fanny pack (Bighorn I think.) I have no plans for Friday night yet. Let me know.

Hey SP, I have the Wilderness pack from Kfalls also. We could start our own party.
Sounds like a great idea Hunt, especially for those deciding on a new pack.

Wood? Geeze you ARE old! Probably laced w/ sinew to? he, he, he
Geeze you guys are taking the title too literally. Of course all packs are welcome.
My goto pack frame has been an Alice Frame with a homemade wooden board on it.
It's funny how all the young guns seem to think that you HAVE to have a brand new trendy pack. Probably do them some good to see what we've all been using over the years.
But I do like the trends in hunting packs that transform into meat packs once the animal is on the ground.
It's kinda a pain in the butt to have to make an extra trip just to get the real pack board.
I like a pack that is light that I can hunt out of, but yet is very adaptive and easy to morph into a meat pack. Personally I don't need a hard frame...meat is soft on the back. It's just heavy. So a pack that I can bag/lash/or buckle a quarter or two on the back of is fine with me.
OK...mentally change the title to "Diehard Outdoorsman Rendezvous"

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
Go to wilderness packs dot com They don't even make the model I have any more. My hunting pack is a double fanny with a waist belt and suspenders. Been using it about 6-7 years I guess. Holds 4 elk bags, knives, saw, food, water, and pretty much all the junk I carry.
When and where's the ronde?

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
I would like to fondle some of those high end packs.
I have 3 or 4 of the bent plywood packs, and a diamond plate aluminum one I made to match which is my main carry pack for heavy loads.
My aluminum external frame tube pack from REI is just to noisy but I like the pocket configuration on the bag.
I keep thinking I need a good pack but the kifaru and mystery pack etc.. are not easy to look at anywhere since I only see them online.

Roy & rest of gang, Can you do Friday?
I'm thinking we have enough samples & guys available to make Friday night work out.
Maybe we can bribe OldGuysRule's wife to let him come and let us fondle his Hardcore.
MarlinMark, can you make it to show us your Mystery & Wilderness Packs
All others....who has what packs and can make Friday work??
Rauly, you in???
OK......so where & when do we do this??? PDX or something more toward Wilsonville?...say 6-6:30pm
Hunt'nFish
PS: I'll have a full Nimrod System w/ frame, my old Smart Rig and an Alice.

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
I don't own a Mystery Ranch pack. Just a gear guy, follow the backpack industry, and did a lot of reasearch before purchasing my last backpacking rig.
I'd love to be there Friday to meet some of you guys, but I'll be chasing Turkey.
Any of you guys want to check out some old packs, Next Adventure has a bunch haning on the wall. I don't think any are for sale though.
Have a good time fellas.

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
I still don't have anything planned for Friday but my better half was home sick today so I don't know if she will be up for watching the boys or not. If I can I will make it. Where are you thinking or, are we going to set up a later date?

Re: Any interest in a Hardcore Nimrods Rendezvous?
By the way, the Wilderness Pack that I have is like the first one on their site as you scroll down the "Packs" section. Mine is quite a bit older than that one though. Same basics though.
