single footed yes, and i hate it.. next year im getting a loomis gl3 9'6", but the eyes bend more so when i have fish on i guess my style of getting fish in puts lots of pressure on the eyes (putting tip of pole in water when fish run, i have found that this 9/10 times will stop the fish or being them back to where i am... i just dont like it because i have to be real careful with it.. id rather just not have to worry..
thanks for the reply

I gotta disagree with Gregg. I have bent my single-foot Certified Pro guides dozens of times with no apparent ill effect. Single foot guides are for the birds. Now I just never reef on them.

Yeah now i look at it as a waste of money, wish i knew about the guides before i bought this pole, it was only 130 dollars but still.. if ur looking for a pole,... think twice about the single footed fuji guides on the cert. pro.*In my opinion* My dad has one a few years older than mine and he never has this problem, *different eyes*

Thumper, that's ok, there are always other examples with differing outcomes like yours. It's just that I do have some single foot guides on a couple rods with Fugi guides and I did break out the ceramic insert on one guide. I also found that a few mildly bent guides didn't effect the casting, just the visual appeal.

Seems like most of the high end spinning rods have single foot guides. I just looked at my spinning rods, the last 8 rods I purchased all have single foot guides. Maybe it's to late.

best of luck,

Gregg

I wouldn't give up on single foot guides. (it's the quality of guides that you need to look at. Many of the major rod manufactures, (Loomis, Lamiglas, Cabelas etc) use cheap guides... although they maybe Fuji--- they are cheap models..
I haven't had much trouble with the single foot guides, I even use the High Frame guides at times and have never bent one on a fish!
Next time you buy a rod look into the SicTi guides. For $25 extra per rod they are incredible.
I fish a lot of Braided line and the different in guides (Ti- vs-hardloy) really makes a difference.
The Titainium frames and Zirconium inserts are worth the money.

Prime-Evil my friend go easy on the single foot guides. That's what makes your rod perform so well. I fish them all the time and never have a problem. If you do all you have to do is contact John Gray at Lamiglas. He's a good man and will take good care of you! Tell him you put this question up on the ifish.net chat room. Lamiglas has made huge strides lately in their product and seem very willing to go the extra mile.

Default fuji guides, eyes bending?

Hey i have a lamiglas cert. pro 8'6" and for some reason the eyes bend when lets say theres pressure on the line and i am trying to get a fish out of a snag if i hold the pole at different angles. Now i am not a fishing pro but shouldn't the eyes be able to handle the pressure before bending.. i mean sooner or later they're gonna break off correct? i cant keep just moving them back to the right position?

I'm not familar with the guides on that rod. Are they single foot guides? I have some rods with the single foot guides and yes, they will and do bend. I don't like to restraighten the guides though since they can break or the carbide insert will fall out. If the guides are off line a little, the rod will still fish ok. Better to just leave untouched. I haven't always been a fan of single footed guides for this exact reason.

Now the question is, are you trying to unhang your lure? The force can be to excessive and often that is when guides are bent. Better to pull a little then point the rod straight and break off then ruin a rod.

best of luck,

Gregg
