Default Miami Guatemala Key West Orlando

Julie and I just returned from a three week trip to Florida and Guatemala.
We flew to Miami on a Sat. and on Wed I joined my little brother, his son, his buddy Mike from Mississippi, and 14 other friends at the Miami airport to fly to Guatemala for four days at Sailfish Bay Resort.
We had 18 guys, the entire resort, 4 boats, and two days of EXTREME sailfish'n.

My little Bro, Popeye, and his Son

My Nephew's FIRST Sailfish

My little Bro....(The Big Kahuna on ifish)

The old man

Back at Fish Camp...This place was "All Inclusive" and GREAT!!!

This was the GRAND FINALE of the trip! My Bro and his son on a double to close it out!!!

This is how we were transported To & From the Sailfish Bay Resort.....it's on an island.

Then.....on to Key West.....John Wells.....This one is for you Bud!

Fishin' is tough in Key West for Julie Rose

Headin' back in with 30 Dorado in Key West

This is the Fish Report from their website....

April 11 - Manny Varella and Bill Patrone returned to Sailfish Bay for their second visit. The group also included Matt Flick, Phil Smith, Rodger, Joe and Bruce Marler, Mike Johnson, Jon McHenry, Andy Braddy, Luis Gil, Dick Cote, Jeff Henwood, Carlos Lombana, Buck Fisher, Buz Alexander, Danny Gregory, and Glen Philips.

They cast to and hooked up all their fish on spinning gear.

Fishing aboard Maverick they raised 57 sailfish and released 10.

Fishing aboard Sirena they raised 44 sailfish and released 15.

Fishing aboard Gypsy (this is NOT a missprint...Gypsy) they raised 40 sailfish and released 20.

Fishing aboard Mariner they raised 21 sailfish and released 7.

April 12 - The Varella group raised 48 sailfish on Maverick and released 13. They also caught 6 dorado.

They raised 23 sailfish on Gypsy and released 12.

They raised 36 sailfish on Sirena and released 8.

They raised 31 sailfish on Mariner and released 10.

My Bro, his son, Mike, and I were on the Mariner.

While us guys were in Guatemala, the girls went out of Islamorada and killed the Dorado and blackfin!

Live'n the life there Bruce. Excellent report and great pictures. I would guess with those shots you have fishbaits blood running cold about now. He wants to catch a billfish off Oregon so bad he can taste it. Nice to see you post and again have your imput here in our little world.

sounds like an absolute wonderful trip and looks like retirement is being good to ya. Continue the dream and keep reporting back to us. We enjoy your reports.

Popeye .. nice post. Looks like you got some sun and some fish. 30 dorado, wow. That corner in that bar is pretty fun to look at the stuff on the wall.

I have to say, Popeye that it looks like retirement agrees with you and Julie.
